Saturday, February 28th, 2009Frescoed virtues painted in wet plaster
stare down from mural walls, while moldy vices tear
asunder culture’s fabric; thus our claim
for competent, just leaders dissipates, and the worm
of greed permeates our politicians’ work
as they pretend that we possess control.
Illusion that citizens retain control
allows puppets to artfully plaster
over their real design with pandering work.
