Consultant Roger Stone, the notorious political hitman who helped George W. Bush prevail in the 2000 Florida recount, tells The Daily Beast that he wishes he hadn’t.
How much did Bush hurt the COUNTRY & GOP?
DB-Roger Stone is one of the last guys on Earth one would expect to feel guilty over an episode of rough and tumble politicking. As a self-admitted hit man for the GOP, Stone has had a hand in everything from Nixon’s dirty tricks to Eliot Spitzer’s resignation to spreading discredited rumors of a Michelle Obama “whitey” tape during the 2008 Democratic primaries. You might call Stone the Forrest Gump of scandal, popping up to play a bit part in the most notorious negative campaigns in recent history.
The capstone of Stone’s career, at least in terms of results, was the “Brooks Brothers riot” of the 2000 election recount. This was when a Stone-led squad of pro-Bush protestors stormed the Miami-Dade County election board, stopping the recount and advancing then-Governor George W. Bush one step closer to the White House. Though he is quick to rebut GOP operatives who seek to minimize his role in the recount, Stone lately has been having second thoughts about what happened in Florida.

Oh, what a gem!
Character assassination from Nixon to Reagan, George the Sane and Dubious. Everything from out-right bribery to put John Anderson on the New York State ticket in 1980 (thereby giving Reagan an edge over George the Sane) to hire-a-mob street demonstrations in Florida diverting democracy in 2000.
Then, this die-hard conservative-bordering-on-libertarian joins another presidential campaign in 2004 . . . for none other than the Rev. Al Sharpton ! Well, let’s just assume he didn’t have a devine moment and assume he was stirring up trouble for the Democrats once again.
He was behind John Kerry’s apparent support for Sen. Specter’s reelection campaign (false, but it pissed off Phillie Dems), and is on tape as threatening Eliot Spitzer’s father in 2007. His last success was torpedoing the Hillary Clinton campaign.
.
Anybody proud he’s a GOPer?

FYI
Poll: GOP image goes from bad to worse
WASHINGTON (CNN) – The Republican Party has hit a new low.
Just 34 percent of Americans in a Gallup Poll released Thursday say they have a favorable view of the party, down 40 percent from a month ago, before the election.
What’s worse: 61 percent of Americans have an unfavorable view of the Republican Party.
According to Gallup, that unfavorable rating is the highest the polling organization has recorded for the GOP since the measure was established in 1992.

Yeah, and one of the problems I’ve had with Obama is that he’s rerun George W. Bush’s campaign. I see Obama as another empty suit like Bush.

Sounds like Roger Stone has a serious case of buyer’s remorse.
He should have kept his mouth shut about this. Now he has buyer’s remorse, and he’ll be hated by the majority of Americans. We call that a good old fashioned GOP lose-lose.
