55% of Military family members disapprove of President Bush’s job performance!
USATODAY-Close family members of U.S. troops are split on whether the Iraq invasion was a mistake, and 55% disapprove of President Bush’s job performance, according to USA TODAY/Gallup Polls focusing on immediate relatives of servicemembers.
“They’ve maxed out on the troops. You’ve got guys who are over there on their fourth or fifth tours. It’s ridiculous,” says Jeanette Knowles, 40, of Mountain Home, Idaho, whose brother, Jeff, served a tour in Iraq with the Oregon National Guard.Knowles, who calls herself a Democratic-leaning moderate, says her disapproval of Bush stems from his handling of the war.

Do they have a clear concept of the goals? Do they know why our nation feels sacrifice is necessary and why we don’t have more troops to call upon?
Do they know what we expect from the Iraq government if they do become self-reliant? Do they know what our long term policy is for the Middle-east?
Hmmm? For that matter, do we, the voters, know? The problems with this war, just or not, authorized or not, has been an example of poor communication of goals and Middle East policy for now and the long run.
Congress is just as much to blame as anybody. They are supposed to set the goals (not the President) when they declare war (oh that’s right, they just authorized force under the blessing of the U.N. ) they are supposed to state why they are declaring war and what the goal of that war should be.
Instead, Congress likes to use Presidents of both parties as scapegoats for shirking their own responsibility. Blame the President and take the heat of Congress. Well, from approval ratings for Congress, the voters seem to be waking up to the fact that Congress isn’t doing their job. But, at the same time, they don’t really seem to know what Congress should be doing to keep this nation strong economically.
By the way, hope you all had a Merry Christmas.
Wow, only 55%!
After years of the MSM (and leading dems like Harry Reid, Dicky Durbin, et al) telling military members and their families how they lost the war, still 45% support the policy….that is amazing.
Just imagine what could be accomplished if congressional leaders would just shut up and appropriate the money needed to succeed!
Fortunately, it’s not the family members who volunteered to serve.
I understand they want their loved ones back soon, but they need to understand the troops on the ground are proud of their service and dedicated to completing the mission.
It sure is easy to beat on that war drum when your not the one doing the fighting. More money? You want More of your money wasted? Also, in the video, did you hear how she told you that he was sent back with all is injuries? I am a Combat Vet of this war, not a Fobbit. I can tell you that troops that are “proud” to be there are very very few. Oh, and no one wants to go back once they’ve gone. I’d sure like to know what your combat time has been.
Casey
Thank you for your service and comment!
No problem. Please feel free to check out my other videos.

Not that it matters, but I did my time in the desert during Desert Storm, and I’m in contact with a number of troops currently serving on a regular basis today.
You seem to forget that you, me, and EVERY OTHER soldier, sailor, airman, marine, and coast guardsman volunteered to do precisely what they’re doing.
Nobody wants war, and everyone wants to bring the troops home. It’s not a question of that; it’s a question of fighting the bad guys on their turf rather than fighting them here.
I won’t say that everything has gone swimmingly, because it hasn’t. I WILL say that the troops now serving are proud of what they’re doing and ask only for our support. Have you ever met a troop stationed outside the United States that DIDN’T want to come home? Come on, be realistic. NOBODY wants to serve in harms way but it’s what we signed up to do.
It’s fine to disagree with policy – even as a military member you have the right to vote – but once the decisions are made by the “Officers appointed above me,” we do what’s required whether we like it or not.
Thanks for your service. You did the right thing to serve your Country. Just don’t forget the oath you took when you signed up.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
I’m not debating the fact that I signed up. I did, me, you, and everyone, knows it. I am however very much against this war. We do agree on the fact that no one WANTS to get shot at it. But the statement that nobody wants war I feel is incorrect. Somebody wanted a war, and they got it. This war has made so much money for so many people it would be a foolish to just write it off as an accident. A right wing conspiracy? No. A carefully thought out business plan. My concern is Soldiers. Although we can disagree on why we are there, I hope we can agree that the army has brought an unforgivable amount of shame upon itself by simply not taking care of Soldiers. It has let not only myself, but others down. As far as following orders, well, got to say, if I feel morally that it is wrong, I will not do it. I took an oath, to protect my country against ALL enemies, foreign, AND domestic.
“As far as following orders, well, got to say, if I feel morally that it is wrong, I will not do it.”
What kind of statement is that? Unless you have one or two little silver stars on your shoulder, Casey, you don’t get to make those kind of decisions. For the sake of the lower enlisted, I seriously hope that you are/were in charge of the motorpool or chow hall.
Forgive me for having a moral spine. I will not put Soldiers in harms way for nothing. NO, I was not in charge of the Chow Hall or Motorpool. I am a COMBAT Vet. Thank You.
