David O'Rear, Minnesota elected a Black Muslim. The question is why. I'm suggesting the voters could be so dumbed down at this point or the system is rigged. I don't understand what's wrong with that statement. But perhaps their is another explanation? I didn't look at the demographics of the district that voted the Muslim in. Perhaps its a heavily black district, and hence color trumps everything else. That could also explain the result, though sad in light of all the publicity over "9-11".

Hugh,

“The first Muslim (black Muslim) comes from Minnesota.
So all bets are off, they could vote someone like Franken. Either the folks up there don’t have a clue, or perhaps Minnesota is a voting rigged state? I trust nothing anymore!”

Are you telling me you don’t see anything wrong with moving directly from a comment about an individuals race and religion to “so all bets are off”, “they could vote for someone like . . .” and “either the folks up there don’t have a clue or . . .”

Is that what you’re saying, that you don’t see anything wrong with that kind of ugly bigotry?

How sad.

David O'Rear, re your post #13, you ask "And, was that crack about Muslims necessary?".

I'm not sure I understand your question as I was indicating I don't want to have to put up with their ways just as they wouldn't want to put up with ours. We both need our own space to live our lives the way we wish to. Just the other day, in downtown Atlanta, I saw a woman (I'm assuming it was a woman) wearing this black outfit that covered her entire body except for a slit for her eyes. Creepy. If she were a visitor, I could accept that, but she probably lives here!!! For all I know, she could be a terrorist, but do to our new religion here, PC, we can't inquire.

Oh - and Franken knows his stuff. Coleman will be having a hard time living down some of his more shill-frenzied moments on senate committee CSPAN and on the floor.

If Jesse Ventura can be elected Governor, I wouldn't count out Britney Spears in a race for office in Minnesotta.

The U.S. was founded as a Christian nation and Christmas, Easter, etc. were all celebrated on the public square.

The US was founded as a genocidal scourge that managed to wipe out an entire race of people who now drink themselves to death on reservations.

I'm so sick of this religious "mine, mine, mine" crap...everyone needs to mind their own business and stop complaining about petty nonsense. If people in the community are a certain religion and there's money, they put up a building for that said religion and decorate it all nice.

Good for whoever does that...sincerely, it makes people a lot better than it does anything else, UNTIL - the diety drag racing starts and instead of ones religion being a source of strength, it's instead a weapon.

Dave

Are you saying Coleman is not smart enough to understand any issue outside of Minnesota?

Are you saing any Senator should not think about border security issue unless they have lots of illegal immigrants in their State?

Are you saying the federal welfare used to support illegal immigrants is a non issue to any Senator unless they are on a border State?

Caroline, of course we have religious freedom in this country. But with that said, the Muslims have a different customs, etc then Christians. The U.S. was founded as a Christian nation and Christmas, Easter, etc. were all celebrated on the public square. The Muslims like to hear their prayers over public loud speakers seven times per day and they stop their routine to pray at the appointed time. Both ways can not exist freely at the same place. I sure as heck don't want to see burkas everywhere and hear those prayers over the loudspeakers, just as the Muslims don't want Christmas and Easter to permeate their communities. Multiculturalism doesn't work. All sides are inhibited, tension builds, mistrust increases - no one is happy. Is that what you want?

Glad to see the Franken is supposedly against the Iraq War and CAFTA. My bet though is that he is OK with the Mexican immigration, but probably against Muslim immigration as he is Jewish.

John,
Franken is against CAFTA and the Iraq war. I don't know what his stance is on immigration. I guess you will see as he gets closer to running.
