Back to the Basics
It is high time we get back to the basics in this country. Our voice in our government has been choked by lobbyists and courtroom blackmail by the likes of the ACLU. Our Representatives in Washington have created a country club of rich elitists appalled by our common sense and amused by our lack of nuance. In light of all this- I would like to call three excellent links to your attention.
Please take the time to view this video:
The Declaration of Independence
Then take the time to read The “Congressional Code of Conduct.” I believe we should embark on a movement to demand all our Congressmen to sign this document and set it as the basis for their service.
Lastly, I suggest we join together in support of passing the following Bill into Law.

The “Congressional Code of Conduct” and the `Fairness in Forgiveness Act of 2006’, we should all be able to agree on.

This sure is whiny. The best thing we can do is make sure that they lose their reelection bids. You can write all the proposals in the world but until the voters start kicking these people out then signing these silly documents is nothing more than a waste of time.

You think it is ok to give illegal immigrants Amnesty on IRS violations and not Americans?
Why not have Congress sign a code of conduct, we do that in other industries.Do you think lawyers, doctors.. should not have a code of conduct?
November 30th, 2006 at 12:22 pm
no John…caroline is right…I wrote this with a box of tissues in my lap…
November 30th, 2006 at 12:22 pm
Where do Doctors have to sign anything like this? All I know is that they have to say the hippocratic oath.
John, it’s just a “feel good” thing. If you want to make yourself feel better go ahead and promote something like this. I think it’s better to just to hold them accountable at election time.
November 30th, 2006 at 12:27 pm
caroline
exactly.. it is much more effective to do nothing except just complain on blogs and vote….
November 30th, 2006 at 12:36 pm
caroline
Doctors, lawyers, engineers, CPA….. all of them take an oath, and they can loose their license to practice for violations.
November 30th, 2006 at 12:47 pm
eevil,
More whining from you. I’m glad you like to whine.
John, It takes a lot for them to lose their license. Basically they have to break the law which is the same way that congress operates now.
November 30th, 2006 at 12:50 pm
caroline
well- hankies are on sale at my local five and dime…….
November 30th, 2006 at 12:54 pm
caroline
You are somewhat right. But they are held to a different standard, for even laws.
November 30th, 2006 at 12:58 pm
The folks in Congress lose their seat if they break the law?
Now THAT is funny…..
November 30th, 2006 at 2:57 pm
Eevil
I don’t need forgiveness for anything yet. Should I go out and do some stuff before this passes?
November 30th, 2006 at 3:25 pm
You know, if you really look at it, our current government does way worse stuff to us than the King of England ever did, and is probably less accountable.
November 30th, 2006 at 3:28 pm
Brad….oh WOW!
great minds and all that….
We are facing today, much the same type of elitist government disdain for the people, that our forefathers faced from the King of England. The difference we face is that the Americans of today are too worried about gas prices, stocks, the new “American Idol”, and video games to look up and take notice……
November 30th, 2006 at 3:54 pm
Oh, don’t worry eeevil… Great mind or not, I’ll give you a reason to disagree with me somewhere.
The more politically astute I’ve become, I’ve realized that I’m a dyed-in-the-wool liberal. Of course, that’s means something different than “Democrat”. Those dirty socialist bastards have stolen a perfectly good word like “liberal” and sullied it. Thankfully, it seems they’re moving on to “progressive”, and I hope to steal the word liberal back to it’s old definition: someone who fights for both personal AND economic liberty.
November 30th, 2006 at 6:10 pm
Eeevil,
Throwing you my crying towel.
Waiting for my turn to jump in the argument.
November 30th, 2006 at 6:17 pm
John,
I’m with Caroline on this sign another statement that you’re honest.
If I’m honest, I don’t need to sign.
If I’m not, it doesn’t mean anything to sign.
I can see the point of an ethics commission to settle some issues that are not covered by law.
I don’t see much that the justice system can do but catch and punish the most outrageous violations of the social contract.
November 30th, 2006 at 6:19 pm
Eeevil,
My IP won’t let me view your movies.
Next time, can you draw me some pictures?
Thanks.
November 30th, 2006 at 6:26 pm
LOL!!
of course I can draw you pictures….not sure if John will allow me to post here anymore though!

FYI, it appears I have a comment stuck in moderation…
November 30th, 2006 at 10:19 pm
Brad,
Stop being moderate!
November 30th, 2006 at 10:58 pm
Eeevil,
Seriously, stop reading the daily whine from Sean Hannity. The only entity Hannity whines consistently about is the “evil” ACLU and their “terrible” influence on America.
Look, if you wish to clasp a Bible in your hand as you walk down Main Street, USA, have at it. But, don’t go forcing others to listen to you or Hannity whine about the ACLU blocking the teaching of the Bible in government schools.
Hell, at least the ACLU uses novel legal arguments to make their points; Hannity just screams and throws a temper tantrum.
Don’t be like Sean, Eeevil; it’s so unbecoming.

Bill
You know what is unbecoming?
You constantly accusing me of BUNK.
I CANNOT stand Sean Hannity.
I do not and never have supported TEACHING the Bible in public schools.
How about you try making a point without throwing lies on people? Talk about a novel argument….
seriously…(in my best Valley Girl voice)

You are so busy trying to look cute and tough, and you simply end up looking foolish.
December 1st, 2006 at 9:59 am
“Trying???”
Fiddlesticks, Eeevil! I AM cute AND tough.
December 1st, 2006 at 10:05 am
Bill
LOL! Well NOW you are– that is a VERY Cute response!
but not so much when you load those lies on me….
I mean Sean Hannity– ugh– I need to shower now- LOL!

Eeevil,
He’s VERY cute and tough when he’s mad!
