Funny, yet another parallel to my country, Australia.
A current affairs here, 4 Corners, did an episode just this week on a $6 billion purchase of stopgap Superhornet aircraft way outside of usual tendering procedures. Murky stuff and the name Cheney got mentioned, along with our own beloved leaders, who are his ideological and attitudinal fellow travellers.
Much of the ordinance we’ve purchased recently is poor stuff, yet being allies we’ve reached the stage where we won’t consider even British or French alternatives.
I don’t mind us “buying American” if it works for our needs. I don’t blame americans because of the stupidity of my own government.
But I understand why American citizens who wonder if they also are seen by the powers that be only as unlimited cash-cows, might be demanding a few answers from the relevant people, because in my country many of us are feeling the same about our leaders, who also seem to have the same casual attitudes toward the rest of us.

Right now it’s not. It’s not supposed to have problems until something like 2040. And the GOP solutions of cronyism is not the answer though I’m sure you support it.

Really, the GOP has proven themselves completely inept when it comes to the numbers.

You wouldn’t know a criminal when you saw one. You think the current idiot in the WH is a perfect example of morals-WOW! Why is Bush asking for immunity from prosecution all these congressional bills ? Hmm, you think he might have broken quite a few laws during his time in office? Torture? Illegal wiretapping? War criminality? I could go on but I’m sure that you would do nothing but apologize for the behavior.

Bill, in his post #3 stated the following:

Caroline, bb, etc., Bill’s comment is 100% spot on. And Bill said Washington, D.C., because it’s BOTH parties! It’s so sad the partisans have these massive logs in their eyes! Not just sad for the individuals, but more so for the Nation.
