Bush Supports Israeli Plan For Strike On Iran?
Is war on with Iran? Does it bother anyone that the missile test might be a fake?
TIMES-President George W Bush has told the Israeli government that he may be prepared to approve a future military strike on Iranian nuclear facilities if negotiations with Tehran break down, according to a senior Pentagon official.
Despite the opposition of his own generals and widespread scepticism that America is ready to risk the military, political and economic consequences of an airborne strike on Iran, the president has given an “amber light” to an Israeli plan to attack Iran’s main nuclear sites with long-range bombing sorties, the official told The Sunday Times.
“Amber means get on with your preparations, stand by for immediate attack and tell us when you’re ready,” the official said. But the Israelis have also been told that they can expect no help from American forces and will not be able to use US military bases in Iraq for logistical support.
Condoleezza Rice, the US secretary of state, said she saw the launches as “evidence that the missile threat is not an imaginary one”, although the impact of the Iranian stunt was diminished on Thursday when it became clear that a photograph purporting to show the missiles being launched had been faked.

Experts have been predicting that Bush would authorize a strike on Iran for years:
“I believe President Bush is going to order air strikes (on Iran) before he leaves office”
-Norman Podhoretz (Lyons, 2007).
Bush and his cronies say they want peace and diplomacy, but the problem with the members of Bush administration is that you can’t trust them. You can’t take what they at face value.
As former Nixon aide John W. Dean wrote, “George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney have created the most secretive presidency of my lifetime. Their secrecy is far worse than during Watergate.”
The administration secretly planned and prepared for war with Iraq without disclosing it to the general public. Planning began in November of 2001 and included upgrading airfields in various Gulf countries, moving supplies to the region and the construction of necessary facilities.
By April 2002, the planning and preparation for war was also being hidden from Congress. Bush had instructed General Tommy Franks not to make financial requests through Washington. “Anything you need, you’ll have.”
The money would no longer be appropriated through congress. By the end of July 2002, Bush had approved more than thirty projects totaling over $700 million. Congress had no knowledge or involvement.
In December of 2002, Bush and Rumsfeld agreed to start secretly deploying troops into the theatre so as not to attract the attention of the press or the rest of the world.
The first deployment order went out on December 6, 2002 and deployments continued every two weeks or so thereafter. Troops were given less than a week’s notice at times.
In January 2003, the Bush administration arranged for much of its humanitarian relief to be disguised as general contributions to conceal its war planning from the NGO recipients.
Yet, when asked about Iraq, Bush’s favorite response was “I have no war plans on my desk.” At one point or another after the planning began, nearly every member of the administration publicly denied any plans to go to war with Iraq.
The question remains: Why would we expect the Bush administration to start being honest and up front about its intentions now?
A better approach to Iran would be negotiations. We need to give Iran an honorable path of retreat. While Fareed Zakaria agrees that there is no reason not to use sanctions and embargoes against states such as Iran, he suggests that we also need to “allow a viable way out.” That is to say, we need to negotiate and not merely mandate.
I think we should more concerned about acquainting ourselves with the realities of Iran’s foreign policy initiatives, and intelligently determining our most reasonable course of action.
Gentlemen,
The generals have said NO !!!
now whether the Israelis make a move beyond the reach of our influence, that’s on them.
But, I’m sure if Ol’ georgiepoo were trying to get a li’l proxy war started, most of the Generals would go out of their way to throw EVERY ROADBLOCK that they could to stop it — including leaking info like a seive to the press.
wgka,
I sure hope the heck you are correct! But many of the field grade generals are nothing but politicians, and several have dual loyalties (including TO ISRAEL!). Recall Admiral Fallon was fired as he was outspoken that there would be no attack on Iran during his watch.
And we do know WHO the driving force itching to attack Iran is! And as major components of “THE LOBBY”, they run much of what goes on in the U.S. these days.
Why the hell is Halliburton doing business in Iran in the first place? Seems like the folks on the “corporate plantation” who do the most business over there are also the ones beating the war drums the loudest. Filthy scum.

Hugh – you really do need to get some help. These conspiracy theories are a hoot!
Field Grade Generals? HA!
sgtmac,
Thanks for the correction. I should have stated “Flag”, not “Field”.
But my post was essentially accurate. The “Perfumed Princes” as the late Colonel Hackworth used to say, are just that! They rise today due to their political connections. Note the new Air Force Joint Chief is not an ex-fighter pilot as were all his predecessors, but he’s an ex tanker pilot. He also happens to be a member of THE LOBBY! Chew on that one, sgtmac!
sgtmac,
Just so you don’t think I’m blowing smoke, here’s the bio on Air Force General Norton A Schwartz, bush’s nominee. He rose through the ranks as a transport pilot (a first) and also is “the first Jewish USAF leader”. My, my. But to continue, he is a member of the Council of Foreign Relations. Very questionable sole loyalty to the United States, in my opinion. What do you think sgtmac? Here’s the link. I think he would agree to bomb Iran in a heartbeat, but that’s my opinion. And how convenient, an individual of questionable loyalty heads up the military unit which would start the next war!

Halliburton Charged with Selling Nuclear Technologies to Iran
WOW! And we still give Haliburtan contracts?
RH-Source: Global Research.ca, August 5, 2005, Title: “Halliburton Secretly Doing Business With Key Member of Iran’s Nuclear Team,” Author: Jason Leopold Faculty Evaluator: Catherine Nelson Student Researchers: Kristine Medeiros and Pla Herr.
According to journalist Jason Leopold, sources at former Cheney company Halliburton allege that, as recently as January of 2005, Halliburton sold key components for a nuclear reactor to an Iranian oil development company. Leopold says his Halliburton sources have intimate knowledge of the business dealings of both Halliburton and Oriental Oil Kish, one of Iran’s largest private oil companies.
Additionally, throughout 2004 and 2005, Halliburton worked closely with Cyrus Nasseri, the vice chairman of the board of directors of Iran-based Oriental Oil Kish, to develop oil projects in Iran. Nasseri is also a key member of Iran’s nuclear development team. Nasseri was interrogated by Iranian authorities in late July 2005 for allegedly providing Halliburton with Iran’s nuclear secrets. Iranian government officials charged Nasseri with accepting as much as $1 million in bribes from Halliburton for this information.
sgtmac, calling sgtmac!
I have posts #6 and #7 for you to respond to. After all, I did respond to your post #5.
Hugh,
You forgot to charge all Catholic generals with being “loyal” to the Vatican.
.
Sheesh
[Greetings to all from beautiful Boothbay Harbor, Maine!]
sgtmac, has anyone seen sgtmac?
I responded to his comment in his post #5 (please see my posts #6 and #7) and now he has disappeared! Is he ok? I can only assume my factual postings can not be rebutted so he is slinking off hoping the “topic” is ignored and folks forget. This happens all the time when the Neo Cons and others have no valid rebuttal. Sad! Very little debate on this blog when the real “PC” topics are posted.
David,
Interesting comment, and I’m old enough to remember when that was a concern with Kennedy. But the Catholics don’t quite have the same bond that the Jews have. They don’t stick together to the same degree and they don’t have their own lobby as the Jews have THE LOBBY! And American Catholics freely disagree with the Vatican.
Will reply shortly – been on a short trip. DOR – Maine sounds like a nice idea.
Have fun on vacation Sgt Mac!
Okay – now I have a few minutes…..
First, I’ll reply to Hugh, as distasteful as that is…..
General Schwartz is, apparently, jewish. So what? Please show me anything in our founding documents that says “Jews can’t serve in positions of authority.” Now if you’d like to use Adolph Hiler’s regime, well…..that’s an entirely different story.
I never served with General Schwartz. In fact, I don’t even know him by reputation. That said, the vast majority of service chiefs are highly qualified for the position and patriots to the core. I expect General Schwartz fits that bill. I’m sorry you hate jews so much Hugh. They’ve been responsible for some of the most fantastic discoveries in history. Does Einstein sound familiar? Recommend you Google E=MC squared.
I would also remind you that Pope John Paul II, in concert with Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher, is a primary reason the cold war ended. Oh, did I mention he was a Catholic? As for your completely uninformed remark about “American Catholics freely disagreeing with the Vatican,” while this is true to some extent, those who do so subject themselves to ex-communication from the Church. Now to faithless, Godless idiots, that may not seem so bad, but to a REAL Catholic, it’s about as bad as it gets. Go do some reading before your next bigotted outburst.
John – If Haliburton, General Dynamics, or any other company is guilty of espionage, in my view they should be treated like anyone else. I would only say that we supposedly live in a Nation where people (even defense contractors John) are innocent until proven guilty. At this point, please show me the PROOF….you know John FACTS…..that anything illegal occurred.
Now I’m going back to the beach. I’ll be headed to Colonial Williamsburg at the end of the month. Those of you who seem to think the Country is in the toilet should visit Colonial Williamsburg. Perhaps a short re-briefing on what made this Nation the envy of the world would do you some good.
One other thing John…I gather from other threads that you’ve banned Bart from posting. Please let me know if this is true. If it is, I plan to boycott this site. If not, I apologize for that remark.
Hey Hugh – Your comment
“And how convenient, an individual of questionable loyalty heads up the military unit which would start the next war!”
You are so far gone it’s incredible. READ YOUR OWN LINK YOU BIGOTTED FOOL!
Questionable loyalty? Who the hell are YOU to question this man’s loyalty? He’s given 35 years of his life in service to this Nation and you have the unmitigated gall to question his loyalty? Go F*ck yourself Hugh. One more thing…..Generals don’t “start” wars Hugh. FOOLS like you start wars.
I can only assume that Hugh has decided to go out and buy a new hood for his klan suit. The silence is deafening.
SgtMac
Bart is free to post. He was upset that I took down comments of him using private URL information to try to out commenter’s identity.
Bart called me and said he would not comment anymore unless he had that right.
John – If you would, please accept my apology for even thinking you were trying to limit his first amendment right to free speech. I should have known better.
Second, would you please provide some contact information so I can get him to change his stance? Thanks!
Mac
Sgt Mac
I am on vacation but if you call at my office late next week I will give you his phone number.
John,
Re your post #18:
That’s a class and moral and correct thing that you did re Bart. Many of us have differing opinions on this blog and that would be expected. When I differ with someone, I attempt to make my point with facts and discussion. While I most strongly disagree with many of the positions on this blog, I have no interest in personal attacks or in “outing” folks. Those tactics are the mark of losers and very dangerous folks. The U.S. supposedly has “free speech”, but what ever right we have left in that regard is substantially reduced and slipping away daily. As I’ve mentioned many times on this blog, I personally know people TODAY who are in jail for their views! Is that Free Speech?! Bart can have whatever views he wants to hold, but from what you indicate in your post #18, Bart is a really bad person. “Evil” could be an appropriate adjective applied to Bart.
John, I hope you know that while you and I are often not on the same page, I strongly feel you have always demonstrated integrity. I hope you look at me the same way, while understanding we hold differing opinions.
John, you’re a class act and you understand what this nation is all about!
Thank You!
sgtmac,
Thanks for your responses. Many, perhaps most of my postings languish on this blog if they deal with “PC” subjects like “race”. It does get tiring that there is no honest debate on certain issues on this blog. If you think I jumped the gun in getting you to respond, then I will apologize. It just happens so often that I make points and no response or attempt to intellectually dispute my points is made.
And I hate to say it, but your two responses do not at all address the major point I keep trying to make. “THE LOBBY”, and you know what I mean, is a major force to be reckoned with and I know you are intentionally ignoring it. sgtmac, that’s very disingenuous on your part!
There is no point in my trying to address your dodges until you comment head on to my major point! I really am tired of playing your game, sgtmac!
That’s it Hugh….pander away but don’t address the issue of your bigotry and arrogance. You say Bart is “evil.” That’s rich coming from an old fashion bigot like you. You’re a despicable little man who’d run for cover at the drop of a hat while people with real courage – people like Bart who maintains the courage of his convictions openly – wouldn’t be afraid to stand up and fight.
You take it upon yourself to question the loyalty and patriotism of others with nothing more than your own bias and hatred toward anyone not like you. You allude to facts in one of your inane posts above, but there’s not a SINGLE fact buried anywhere in your drivel other than the FACT that General Schwartz is a Jew – just hate, fear, and bigotry. You’re a disgrace to the very foundations of this great Nation.
I don’t care if you reply. Your overt racism and bigory disgusts me.
SgtMac, no reply is forthcoming to your remarks as they are just more of the same name calling with no intellectual argument.
But to the folks just checking in for the first time: please read the entire thread and then draw your conclusions.
Thanks Hugh!
Hugh –
“Intellectual argument?” Don’t make me laugh. YOU, questioning a decorated General officer’s loyalty and patriotism, while suggesting he’d “start the next war,” without a single supporting fact may pass as “intellectual” in your twisted, bigotted brain, but to most folks it’s nothing more than klan-talk at which YOU excel.
Take your conspiracy theory clap trap and stick it up your “LOBBY.”
