Democratic Whip “Afraid” U.S. making progress in Iraq
Is the left rooting AGAINST our troops?
Clyburn: Positive Report by Petraeus Could Split House Democrats on War

House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-S.C.) said Monday that a strongly positive report on progress on Iraq by Army Gen. David Petraeus likely would split Democrats in the House and impede his party’s efforts to press for a timetable to end the war.
Clyburn, in an interview with the washingtonpost.com video program PostTalk, said Democrats might be wise to wait for the Petraeus report, scheduled to be delivered in September, before charting next steps in their year-long struggle with President Bush over the direction of U.S. strategy.

This quote from Clyburn says it all — But of late there have been signs that the commander of U.S. forces might be preparing something more generally positive. Clyburn said that would be “a real big problem for us.”
Success against terrorism is “a real big problem” for liberal, progressive, socialist dems (and Ron Paul, George Voinovich, “highly respected conservative” Dick Lugar, NE RINOs, John Konop, caroline, Hugh, rabid pooch).
Would the honorable congressman find it to be less of a “problem” if say the Sears Tower in Chicago faced the same fate as the WTC?
He along with all other elected officials who now admit they are rooting for failure should be IMPEACHED!
Is there any doubt that Petraeus’ report will be “strongly positive”?
The question is, will it be strongly credible?
The bigger and more consequential question Lefty is — why do dems want America to fail? Is the lust for power so pervasive within your ranks that victory in war is no longer considered a goal?
Clyburn’s comments expose the truth on the left and it is a truth that is alarming, especially if dems do succeed in ‘08.
Here’s a good analysis from Tony Blankley — http://tinyurl.com/2nf2yr
Left
Obviously, the ONLY thing you’ll believe is that it’s going badly. You can’t possibly fathom anything different.
I’m guessing Harry Reid will call for another pajama party just before the report is available. Otherwise, he and the rest of the defeatocrats will be made to look as foolish as most of us already know they look.
Those of you rooting against the U.S. should be ashamed of yourselves!
VOTE NO! on socialized medicine – It will bankrupt the Nation!
Why would anyone trust the Bush administration who has been batting 0 is beyond me. Only conservatives seem to have a limitless capacity to be duped. The majority is sick of it.
Left,
Don’t argue with them. They don’t even know who the enemy is. They think that Sadaam attacked us and that Iraq is crucial while Osama runs free and weaponry and our ports are handed over to Osama’s main funders. They are a freakin’ joke.
caroline,
Do you join with Clyburn in worrying that a good report will be bad for your party?
Do you support failure in Iraq?
Caroline
It’s amazing how ridiculously silly you can be on virtually every issue.
Are you rooting AGAINST our troops? I suspect the answer is a resounding YES! As I said earlier, you should be ashamed of yourself!
VOTE NO on socialized medicine – Caroline and her ilk need to learn personal responsibility!
bb,
Why do you support Osama? Why are Republicans for letting him run free? Why do you support funding terrorism? Why do you support someone who holds hands with someone like Bandar, even considering him a family member?
Bush has already failed. People like you can’t face reality. It’s been over 4 years and we’ve had nothing but lies and constantly shifting goals. The country isn’t under our control right now and probably won’t be. Continue to advocate for Americans to babysit an Iraqi civil war and dump $14 BILLION a month trying to prop up a corrupt government. I sincerely hope that the powers to be in the GOP listen to your advice!
Mac,
What a stupid fundamentalist post. If you disagree with me then “you are against the troops.” What a loser argument. It’s getting shopworn. It’s the kind of statement people use who can’t handle the truth. Face it. Bush lost Iraq. Take responsiblity for your actions. You supported failure and will continue to support it because you can’t handle the truth.
bb/Mac: You guys are like a couple of sailors on the Titanic (which represents the Iraq War, for those of you keeping score at home).
The ship hit the iceberg. The engineers have rationally examined the damage and concluded that it’s going down. The Democrats accept reality and want to get as many people into life boats as possible.
But you guys refuse to believe the ship’s going down. You even refuse to believe it hit the iceberg! So you run around the deck of the Titanic telling the engineers and Democrats that they’re fools to believe something so negative could happen.
Heads up guys: the waters cold, no amount of denial will change that.
Left/Caroliine
What will you say if the report is positive? That it’s all lies?
Why not just admit you want our troops to lose. You can’t stand the idea that maybe things are getting better can you? Of course neither of you has any proof on anything, it’s simply a severe case of BDS.
The two of you are the worst kind of leftist…the kind that roots against their own troops. You disgust me.
VOTE NO! NO! NO! on socialized medicine Make Caroline pay like the rest of us!
Mac: The report WILL be postitive. Reports from the Bush administration are ALWAYS positive.
What if, when we hear the postive report, violence is no better and American generals are still saying things like the following from a 7/31 Bloomberg article (notice he never uses the word “win” or “winning”):
The Iraqi government is failing and the U.S. must plan cautiously for a withdrawal, Navy Admiral Michael Mullen, President George W. Bush’s nominee to be chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said today.
“It’s important that we sustain a capability to fight al- Qaeda, that we not let Iraq implode from an overall security standpoint, and that in this transition we give the Iraqis an opportunity to both lead from a security standpoint as well as politically,” Mullen said.
“Security is better. Not great, but better,” Mullen told senators in a hearing in Washington. Political compromise between warring Sunni, Shiite, and Kurd factions hasn’t been sufficient, and the U.S. must continue to press their leaders to reach a political settlement, he said.
“Failure to achieve meaningful political reconciliation requires a strategic reassessment,” Mullen told the committee in written answers to questions.
Let’s get something straight. I don’t give a damn what you think of Bush or anyone else.
Americans should be united behind those serving in harms way. The democrats are more concerned with political power than they are with protecting American lives. That’s a disgrace and you can spin it any way you like.
How ANYONE can say a bit of good news is “bad for them politically” is beyond me. As far as I’m concerned, these turncoats should be removed from office.
It seems to me that everyone on the planet could say things are getting better and you leftists would find a way to make it miserable.
Vote out ANYONE who roots against our troops – ESPECIALLY for political gain!
Lefty incorrectly states, “Reports from the Bush administration are ALWAYS positive.” Did you not read the testimony of Bush’s selection as the next leader of the Joint Chiefs of Staff?
Answer the questions caroline:
Do you join with Clyburn in worrying that a good report will be bad for your party?
Do you support failure in Iraq?
While rhetorical, I would still like to get it officially on the record that you and Lefty support the deaths of American soldiers in order to achieve political power.
Mac is absolutely correct. You two represent the worst element of the dem party. Unfortunately there are so many with your perverted views that America is on the brink of surrendering to Al Qaeda.
Hugh uses the word treason quite often to attack GOPers. If there is an example of treason in today’s world, it would be the agenda of dems personified in the words of Rep. Clyburn. You people are a disgrace to the very freedoms provided by the troops you so loathe.
Mac: False optimism dies not serve the troops. Embracing reality does.
Listen to our next Chairman of the Joint Chiefs:
The Iraqi government is failing and the U.S. must plan cautiously for a withdrawal, Navy Admiral Michael Mullen, President George W. Bush’s nominee to be chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, said today.
“Failure to achieve meaningful political reconciliation requires a strategic reassessment,’’ Mullen told the committee.
bb,
You are the ones supporting the death of american soldiers. You are the ones who support continuing death via an unsustainable quagmire.
Once again, conservatives are TOO STUPID to recognize the enemy. You guys think that the Iraqis are the enemy and Osama is a friend! You guys don’t even understand the basics. And we’re supposed to trust you guys? LOL.
mac,
What a pathetic post. Anyone who doesn’t agree with you is “bad”. Well, keep at it. The majority of Americans have had it with people like you and your eliminationist rhetoric. Keep playing kissy face with Osama and calling it “patriotism.” Disgusting.
caroline,
You are pathetic! I absolutely recognize the enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC (see caroline, Clyburn, Pelosi, Reid…pretty much anybody with a D behind their names)!
Instead of continuing to expose yourself as the most ignorant defeatocrat on this site, maybe you should try blogging on a simpler, less mentally challenging site — http://thecookingblog.blogspot.com
bb,
Thanks for proving me right. You don’t recognize the enemies as you have stated again and again. You should just go ahead and state that Osama is a friend of yours. GOP=Grand Osama Party.
Once again caroline wins the “no brainer” award of the post, with this gem: Why would anyone trust the Bush administration . . . ?
Of course, bb never does address the fundamental issue at the heart of the entire discussion:
Why would anyone trust that bunch of traitors?
.
And, special mention to this brilliant exchange of wit and insight:
bb “ Do you support failure in Iraq?
Mac “ Are you rooting AGAINST our troops?
caroline “ bb, Why do you support Osama? Why are Republicans for letting him run free? Why do you support funding terrorism?” . . . Mac, What a stupid fundamentalist post.
Then, she slams it home for yet another victory: Once again, conservatives are TOO STUPID to recognize the enemy.
David
Thanks! Now I KNOW for certain that Caroline is a moron. You just proved the point!
I’m guessing you’re anti-American as well?
SOCIALIZED MEDICINE WILL BANKRUPT THE COUNTRY!
David,
Mac just reinforced what you were saying. They just call anyone who opposes them “anti american” or some other name. It’s a tacit admission of their complete failure. After all, who’s afraid of criticism when you’re a success? Only failures and cowards fear someone else pointing out their shortcomings.
caroline,
The sad thing is, sometimes I just have got to be “agin’ ‘em.”
But, that doesn’t make me a bad person, does it?
Caroline, you are morally right. Sgt.Mac.& BB accuse you and the Liberals of wanting to lose the war (i.e. more dead American troops), however, they are fighting guilt. Their goal is to transfer their guilt for leading our troops into the valley of death and dismemberment to the ones who opposed the failed war from the start. They are feeling great shame, they are living in a shadow,(Jung) not us.
