Giuliani Wants US to Promote Democracy
Rudy think we need to promote nation building?
NPR-Republican Rudy Giuliani said Monday the reputation of the United States has suffered globally not so much because of arrogant actions but for lack of salesmanship about benefits of democracy.
If he is elected president, he said, he would seek ambassadors who would work hard to sell U.S. strengths to foreigners, not just explain those distant nations to Washington.
Giuliani, who is making a late push in the first primary state, also rekindled a dispute with rival Mitt Romney, accusing the former governor of neighboring Massachusetts of presiding over a crime surge while in office.

Nation building is a traditional Democratic issue. Since I can remember the Democrats always took it as their moral authority to go around the world butting into people’s business and telling countries how to live.
But in one of the debates Rudy came out and said we need to retrain our troops to learn how to nation build.
What does it matter what Giuliani thinks? After all, he’s losing in almost all the primaries.
Caroline – You may be right about the primaries, but you’re WAY off about the big picture. Spin it any way you like, but these are the facts. Clearly SOME people care quite a bit what Giuliani thinks. This information is barely THREE DAYS old.

Sgt Mac,
You must remember too that Rasmussen is a Republican pollster. Rudy won’t even carry his home state. And your party is threatening to split if he is the nominee. When you support an agenda that has a -40% approval rating you are in pretty bad shape. You can scream about Hillary all you want but she can beat all the Republicans when it comes down to the election. Rudy “Thank God George W. Bush is president” LOL is George W. Bush in a dress and he’ll be easy to beat. And people like you are going to help us. Thanks for your help!
PS. Your poll is not for the GOP primary which is what I was talking about. Really, now, you should update your reading and comprehension skills since you again and again can’t tell the difference between a general election poll and a primay poll! RTFLMAO!
I saw Zogby on TV and his said things are not looking good for Hillary. The poll he uses was the best in 06! Also the poll is the number one poll used by Hillary via John Zogby. If it is such a bad poll why does Hillary keep buying it and using it?
John,
Zogby’s polls were way off in 06. You have to realize that the poll you keep using is zogby interactive which only polls people who are registered online to be polled.
PS. Zogby said that Hillary was going to lose to Lazio by 20 pts in the NY Senate race in 2000. He was right in 1996 with his polling but most of his have been way off since then.

This is an analysis of polls. Rasmussen leans Republican by about 4 points. Zoby interactive was off in the WI Senate race by 29 pts.
Caroline
Perhaps it’s YOUR reading and comprehension skills in question here. If you actually take the time to READ what I said, it clearly says:
“You may be right about the primaries, but you’re WAY off about the big picture.”
Get a grip Caroline and learn to UNDERSTAND what’s written.
Sgt Mac,
Do you understand the difference? Apparently not. If you read, Rasmussen leans GOP by 4 pts. It says that Rudy would tie but since he’s losing lots or primaries, I don’t think that’s a concern.
Anyway, thanks for your help. You guys are doing a great job for us!
Who determined that Rasmussen is a ‘Republican’ pollster? Where do you come up with this nonsense caroline? He has an excellent track record of being the most accurate forecaster of all the pollsters covering both parties and all issues.
Here is brief description from Rasmussen:
Rasmussen Reports is an electronic publishing firm specializing in the collection, publication, and distribution of public opinion polling information.
The Rasmussen Reports ElectionEdge™ Premium Service for Election 2008 offers the most comprehensive public opinion coverage ever provided for a Presidential election.
Rasmussen Reports’ Election 2006 coverage has been praised for its accuracy and reliability. Michael Barone, Senior Writer for U.S. News & World Report and co-author of The Almanac of American Politics, mentions, “One clear lesson from the Republican victory of 2004 and the Democratic victory of 2006 is that the best place to look for polls that are spot on is RasmussenReports.com.” And University of Virginia Professor Larry Sabato states, “In election campaigns, I’ve learned to look for the Rasmussen results. In my experience, they are right on the money. There is no question Rasmussen produces some of the most accurate and reliable polls in the country today.”
Rasmussen Reports was also the nation’s most accurate polling firm during the 2004 Presidential election and the only one to project both Bush and Kerry’s vote total within half a percentage point of the actual outcome.
During both Election 2004 and Election 2006, RasmussenReports.com was the top-ranked public opinion research site on the web. We had twice as many visitors as our nearest competitor and nearly as many as all competitors combined.
Scott Rasmussen, president of Rasmussen Reports, has been an independent pollster for more than a decade.
bb,
Read the wsj article. Rasmussen averages being off by 4%. He’s a self admitted Republican and those people praising him are Republicans too. It’s no secret. I’m glad to know that you know how to cut and paste from his website.
PS. Rasmussen predicted Bush winning by something like 20pts in 2000 if that tells you something. Every year one poll is on the money. Rasmussen was on the money in 2004 but has been off since then. Zogby was on the money in 1996 but has been off the mark since then. One poll will be right in 2008 but we don’t know which one yet.
Thus the reason polls mean nothing as I state quite often. They provide fodder for discussion and some pols rely upon them for their every decision — see Bill Clinton. But in the end, they are about as reliable as your rants are factually based
bb,
The problem with the GOP is that they don’t listen to the polls. That’s why they have a net negative of -40%. And you don’t like polls because they tell you bad things about the GOP if the truth be known, right? One thing no one debates is that the number of people self identifying as Republican has steeply declined.
As far as fantasy, I’m not the one crazy enough to think that Sadaam Hussein attacked us on 9/11. Most conservatives like you can’t tell fact from fantasy.
Where do you get this -40% number?
Exit polls indicated a big victory for Al Gore in 2000.
Exit polls indicated a win for Kerry in 2004.
Current polls show Americans are evenly split 48-48 on the war in Iraq (major jump from previous 30 – 65 ratio).
Polls show every GOPer beating Hillary.
Polling data is easy to manipulate. If you look hard enough or wait long enough, you can always find the result you seek in a poll.
If the Founders wanted America run by polls, they would have set it up as a democracy…they rightfully did not.
Keep riding the polls caroline…and when your candidate loses, maybe then you will finally realize just how foolish it is to live in a poll induced fantasy world.
Back to the topic of this thread — Why is it a bad thing for America to promote freedom and liberty to the rest of the world?
For the same reason you don’t just put everybody on welfare. Success, much like freedom and liberty, means so much more to those who acquire it when it’s achieved from within, from ones own efforts.
Chris,
There is a big difference between “promoting” and “giving” (welfare).
Rudy wants to show people how so they can achieve it themselves…I don’t see a problem with that because in the end, America benefits by creating new trading partners while ending dependency on us for handouts.
bb,
Are you crazy? You’re talking about exit polls which did predict a Kerry win early but then changed as the day went on. Obviously, you really haven’t a clue as to what you were talking about. As far as Gore, he did win the most votes. Are you proud of having to go to the Supreme court to win an election? I’m sure you are. It’s a third world mentality most conservatives have-they’re owed.
Current polls show that the GOP agenda has an approval rating of +30 and -70 which adds up to -40% approval rating. Are you so clueless as to think that the GOP can continue to campaign on an agenda with those kind of numbers.
Maybe you can understand this:
Bush is a two term Jimmy Carter. Did you think Cater was going to be reelected in 1980?
Bart
Rudy wants the tax payers to pay for his new love nest!
Rudy is a political opportunist.
He’s got no real vision. He’s rotten to the core like so many other neo cons. Screw Rudy. Rudy tudy fresh and fruity.
Take it from someone who had to explain to friends why the 2000 and 2004 elections were rigged: We should be promoting democracy in America.
.
And of course, you have evidence of this alleged “rigging” eh Davey?
I that’s right, I forgot, you don’t NEED evidence. Just your say so.
