Go Pat Go! Go Pat Go!

Does Pat have a chance? Would this help or hurt the GOP?

RS-That’s right! According to The Hill, Patrick Buchanan is being discussed as a possible candidate for Senate in Virginia. Unlike the other two likely candidates, Rep. Tom Davis and former Gov. Jim Gilmore, Buchanan is both an outspoken conservative and an aggressive campaigner. His candidacy would be a welcome addition to the Republican field.

Buchanan distinguished himself as a strong campaigner when he took the New Hampshire primary from front-runner Bob Dole in 1996. Sadly, he was swamped in fundraising and Republicans nominated a squish who blindly walked to an inevitable defeat in November of that year. Buchanan is better known, though, for his culture war speech in 1992. Contrary to popular myth, Bush’s numbers rose after the speech and waned only later in the campaign. His charisma and energy could make him a force to be reckoned with in what will likely be a competitive Senate primary.

Well, the GOP primary is already probably going to be a two way bloodbath why not make it a three way one? The GOP’s going to lose anyway so they might as well nominate someone they like.

Caroline states in her post #1:
“The GOP’s going to lose anyway…”

All Americans must start thinking about their nation first and not the totally corrupted and compromised Democrat and Republican parties. Isn’t it apparent that regardless of whether a Democrat or a Republican wins these days, THE NATION LOSES????!!!! Why do folks focus on the political parties as the Nation is trapped in a descending death spiral?

Pat Buchanan is awesome. People should pay more attention to people like Buchanan, Paul, and John Dean when it comes to foreign policy rather than these CFR JACKASSES or these PNAC LOWLIFES!!!!!

    Hugh,
I’m just looking at reality in VA. Mark Warner left office with a 70% approval rating. If Buchanan is who the VA GOP wants to run, they should run him.

  5. bb says:

If Pat is the nominee, the dems will easily take that seat resulting in same name (Senator Warner), same liberal policies.

  6. caroline says:

    bb,
If any of those guys are the nominees Warner will still take the seat. Gilmore does okay in N Va while the other guy is, Goode is it?, is a rural fundamentalist. Allen the fundamentalist lost in 06 and Gilmore has a poor record as Governor.

If nothing else I hope he’s a “fly in the ointment” to the neocons!!!! I’ll definitely send him money if he runs!!!!!! Make no mistake Buchanan would be a NATIONAL CANDIDATE!!!!!!!!!! (Let’s see how that calculates with the number crunchers)
