GOP race in total disarray
Who will win?
Politico-Mike Huckabee’s startling, not-even-close victory over Mitt Romney and the rest of the GOP field in the Iowa caucus means the Republican Party is in for a wildly unpredictable ride in the weeks ahead.
Here’s what’s certain: Romney’s dethroning has created a big opening for a John McCain revival in the New Hampshire primary next Tuesday.
The Iowa results, with a victory for a populist social conservative deeply mistrusted by many people in the Republican establishment, also virtually guarantee that the nomination contest will not simply be a battle over personalities and credentials. Instead, the race will now be a deep and probably intensely negative fight for the direction of the party in the post-Bush era.

Speaking of Republican establishment, this website reeks of establishment phonies. Why? Because they don’t mention Ron Paul. These other folks are just a bunch of clowns playing musical chairs just like they’ve been for the past year or so.
What does that tell you about Ron Paul Bill? He’s irrelevant in the campaign just like he is in Congress.
Hey Bart, you think people are gravitating toward the GOP to be closer to the God Party?
Politico.com is an establishment mouthpiece, despite their claims to marry “we the people” to Beltway politics. It’s as sick as any other predators coursing through the internet looking for innocent victims.
Chris,
Unfortunately that was the case in Iowa as 60% identified themselves as ‘evangelicals’ yesterday. Of those, the vast majority went for Huckabee.
According to Tim Russert’s analysis of the data, Huckabee only got 14% of support from the other 40% who did not id themselves as evangelicals.
For once I agree with Viguerie; electing Huckabee would end any resemblance the GOP has to conservatism.
The good news is Huckabee will not find enough evangelicals in the upcoming primaries to put him over the top. Iowa which is full of big government evangelicals like Senator Charles Grassley will be the highlight of the Huckabee campaign.
In another week or so we’ll see which campaigns have the most staying power in terms of money. Huck’s beyond broke, and I hear Rudy and McCain ain’t doing so hot raising funds either. So while they all pump their last few pennies into vicious attacks which candidates will emerge as the most serious contenders?
And why hasn’t Hunter dropped out yet?
Good question…Hunter and Keyes should exit stage left with Paul to follow real soon.
It is really a four horse race between Huck, McCain, Rudy and Mitt with Fred looking for a high gear to get back in the race.
Iowa campaign appearances vs. caucus results, appearences in the state from Aug07-Jan08:
- Paul – 27 Appearances, 11,598 votes
- Giuliani – 35 Appearances, 4,013 votes
- McCain – 38 Appearances, 15,248 votes
- Thompson – 75 Appearances, 15,521 votes
- Huckabee – 86 Appearances, 39,814 votes
- Romney – 109 Appearances, 29,405 votes
Giuliani did NOT skip Iowa, in fact had more appearances than Paul, and Paul beat him by 75%.
RP’s showing is more proof that the elite MSM along with its DEM/GOP allies are working extra hard to ensure that only another elite gets the Presidency. If America once again falls for the propaganda, we are in for a future of European style socialism and greater influence to the internationlist cabal that hates America.
Another DEM/GOP elite President will strengthen both parties to the point that it is going to be nearly impossible to ever restore the Constitution as the basis for how we govern ourselves as a free people. Even RP will be beholden to the party machine that he would need to win.
Will America wake up in time? I doubt it, especially since the posts on this multi-partisan site strongly support the elites from the two majors. If the politically aware and active folks here are all for the elites, what hope is there for any real change of direction?
Perhaps that is not the goal, but who can explain how more of the same is going to be a benefit to the nation? The only ones who gain are the elites, and what they gain is power, wealth, and influence. The rest of the nation will get more pork and entitlements to buy their votes while the elites move us down the road to the socialist new world order.
Strange days indeed, most peculiar, momma.
What is your source Chris?
- The delay in results is a red flag.
- The vote totals going down during the count is a red flag.
- The failure to release county results in live time, as promised in a Republican Party press release on Jan. 2, is a red flag.
- The failure to release precinct totals at all is a corrupt procedure. Note that the day before the caucuses, after much pressure, the Republicans did (belatedly) promise to release the precinct results on election night. They didn’t.
