Sunni and Shia factions have been in violent clashes
Iraq is in the middle of civil war, the country’s former interim prime minister Iyad Allawi has told the BBC.
He said Iraq had not got to the point of no return, but if it fell apart sectarianism would spread abroad.

There are five or six main sides to the Iraqi civil war besides the US and official Iraqi forces, both of which wish to stop it.

• The al-Qaeda insurgents — Led by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, these are mainly Sunni Muslims linked to Tawhid and Jihad. (Training camp details)

• The Saddamist insurgents — Their focus is both anti-US and anti-Shiite, but they apparently disagree with al-Qaeda’s attacks on Shiite religious events and symbols and are now even killing some top al-Qaeda figures.

• The Badr Organization — The armed wing of the Supreme Council for the Islamic Revolution in Iraq (SCIRI), supported by Iran. Supports Ayatollah Ali Al Sistani.

• The Mahdi Army — The milia force of Moqtada al-Sadr, the Shiite cleric for the poor section of Baghdad.

• The Iraqi government — The National Guard is under Sunni influence, and the militia of the Interior ministry is influenced by Shiites.

The new law doesn’t exempt American citizens. American citizens can be treated as enemy combatants as to be determined by Bush. You should really bone up on your information.

Here’s the deal. Some people fear accountability. Right now there is not accountability. Is Bill Frist running the operation in Iraq? No. Is Boehner running the operation in Iraq? No. It’s all about fear of accountability. Republicans don’t want to talk about why we are dumping 2 billion dollars per week into Iraq when what we are getting is buildings that leak urine and feces. Why are soldiers being giving erroneous maps by KBR that are doing nothing but leading them into ambushes? These are questions that will have to be answered if Dems take over congress and it scares the devil out of Republicans.

Saying W is not a conservative is a tacit admission that he is a failure. If he was a success then people would be yelling from the rooftops that “HE’S A CONSERVATIVE!” But they are denying that so there you go.

Memo to Pelosi: Don’t bother to defend Bush from attacks anymore. He’ll use anything you do to help him against you.

I disagree. STRONGLY disagree.

First of all, the “civil” war is limited to certain areas, it is not even close to the entire country.

The Sunni and Shiite have been at war with each other forever. Do you know why? The same reason the Muslims are at war with Israel. It is all about which brother is the true heir. yeah- can you believe it.

Under Saddam, the violence was just once sided and carried out quietly. We really need to stop blaming ourselves for the way the people in the Middle East behave.

If you wiped out the police force in Atlanta- would you have crime? sure. But you would not have civil war. You won’t find me defending every move made on handling things in Iraq. No way.

But invading Iraq was the right thing to do. And you will not find me looking to McCain or Pat for any answers.
