Homeland Security, New York agree on new driver’s licenses

I do not blame the immigrants for illegal immigration. This is a classic example how both the President and lawmakers are sending mixed messages to immigrants. The sad part is, working class people pay with lower wages, out of reach healthcare costs, over-crowed schools…

And all of you who think you are getting a deal with tax payer-subsidized illegal workers, you are only fooling yourself. I am not against immigration as long as we first take care of Americans, and don’t destroy the infrastructure of our country with out of control growth.

Stop blaming the immigrants and start looking at your lawmakers who have sold us out to the lobbyist money changers in Washington!

CNN-The Bush administration and New York cut a deal Saturday to create a new generation of super-secure driver’s licenses for U.S. citizens, but also allow illegal immigrants to get a version.

New York is the fourth state to reach an agreement on federally approved secure licenses, after Arizona, Vermont and Washington.

The issue is pressing for border states, where new and tighter rules are soon to go into effect for crossings.

The Arizona deal announced in August does not contemplate issuing licenses to illegal immigrants, said Jeanine L’Ecuyer, a spokeswoman for Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano.

The proposed Arizona version would not be available to anyone illegally in the country, since one of the intended uses of the 3-in-1 identity card would be to prove U.S. citizenship, L’Ecuyer said.

It could be used as a license, as proof of citizenship and as a passport-like document valid for travel in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico.

It would be voluntary and available for a small extra fee.

“It is something that clearly would not be available for people who are in the county illegally,” L’Ecuyer said.

Gov. Spitzer is a die-hard liberal filled with dreams of good intentions that always come up short. This new program will lead to more illegals coming to the States, and to New York in particular. To them, it will be viewed as a way to move toward legalization.

It will generate another new avenue for fraud and enlarge the bureaucracy, and those who are illegal always benefit from more of that type of confusion.

The fact that the our cowardly Homeland Security Chief Chertoff gave a backhanded approval should not suprise anyone. This is a man in favor of illegal immigration as he demonstrated when the bill was being fought over last June. Not only that, but the coward has sat on his hands while two of his border agents rot in a federal prison.

As a New Yorker, I think Spitzer and Chertoff should change places with Ramos and Compean for a week or two, maybe they would come to their senses, but I doubt that they would.

All of this is just another example of how our nation is being hi-jacked, how our birthright is being stolen by the elites of both parties who have successfully convinced everyone that they must vote Democrat or Republican! What a sad state of affairs this is.

If you haven’t already done so, check out my website, joeolivaforpresident.org. We can still save the country if we want to.

My understanding of the problem with New York was that they had a problem with people not having insurance. The license situation is supposed to force them to have insurance.

  3. JohnKonop says:

    caroline,

Do you think illegal immigrants should have insurance? Do you think we should have any immigration law?

  4. caroline says:

    John,
It’s not an easy question. I think that NY was just trying to deal with the situation they were dealt. They don’t have the authority to remove illegals and they have them driving without insurance.

  5. Bill says:

What good can come of that? Homeland Security and New York City agreeing on something? This is the national I.D. in disguise. (a.k.a. big brother) And of course Ron Paul (the only real conservative in the race) is opposed to any additional numbering or tracking concepts aimed at the people including a national I.D.

  6. Joe Oliva says:

    Caroline,

Not having insurance will not be solved by issuing licenses to illegals, it will only do as I said it would, provide an opportunity to stay illegally in the country.

As for removing illegals, any state can enact laws that will push the illegals out if it wanted to, but NY is in the hands of the inernationalists of both parties.

Bill is absolutley correct, all of this immigration stuff is the back door to a national ID. Add that to the GPS they will put in your car and your cell phone, and then watch George Orwell spring into life.

The end of freedom is not far off unless we do something drastic to stop the elites.
    I need your vote folks.

Bill, in his post #5 stated:
“…of course Ron Paul (the only real conservative in the race…”

Bill, I would amend your comment to suggest Ron Paul is the only AUTHENTIC AMERICAN in the race!

  8. Hugh says:

And I hope everyone has read and pondered over what Joe states in his posts (6 an 1). He speaks the truth. Do the readers of this blog understand the ramifications of INACTION?! Do the partisans understand their blind allegiance to their political party is part of the cause of our problems?! Caroline, bb, hint, hint!
