Illegal immigration explosion predicted for 2008
Screaming more loudly about immigration than trade makes no sense. (Note that this latest influx will have NOTHING to do with American demand or need for workers.)
IHT: Mexico abolished its last protective tariffs on basic crops like corn, beans and sugar on Tuesday, under the terms of the North American Free Trade Agreement, or NAFTA. Mexican farmers have complained they won’t be able to compete with U.S. farmers who can sell cheaper products because they receive government subsidies.
Mexico’s Roman Catholic Church has warned that the changes could spark an exodus to the U.S. “It is clear that many farmers will have a difficult time competing in the domestic market, and that could cause a large number of farmers to leave their farms,” the archdiocese said in a statement issued on New Year’s Day.

Bush is a TRAITOR and no one stops him. This Nation no longer has three functioning branches of government. We have lost our Nation, the question is, can we reclaim it? And it gets more doubtful every day.
I went to a county Republican breakfast this morning and almost all there were supporting one of the major “establishment” candidates (i.e., not Ron Paul). And one of our state senators spoke (and he’s very strong re illegal immigration) , and talked about his active support for bringing in 80,000 Bhutanese refugees into the United States. I about choked when I heard that. And this is one of the “supposed good guys”!
You could study “corn” for weeks on end and how Monsanto is causing destruction of native varieties and trying to monopolize the world’s food supply. Contrary to popular belief many in the “anti immigration” camp are aware of issues like this and how “the little guy” is getting stomped out in this country and everywhere else too. And in most cases the “big guy” will rely on subsidies or other regulatory measures which are designed to accomplish this.

There’s no reason for conservatives to give blind support to the “bully boys”. Just because they’re “one of ours” doesn’t mean they represent “we the people”.

Same article different “paper” just (possibly still some “independent media” out there) But the article illustrates corporate fascism again. The Congress and the people say one thing and Bush and the corporations do another. Whatever “treaty law” garbage is behind this it might be just the beginning. These are OUR roads not Mexico’s. And they wonder why people are so mad.
Message to Mexican truckers:
“Don’t tread on me” (or my roads)

Speaking of roads, citizens better rise up to put the lid on this kind of bs before it fully takes root in every community out there: private companies legally charging $15k with the complete blessings and force of state coercion for a $180 toll booth bill.

Can we hear from all of those who have been claiming that Mexico doesn’t live up to its NAFTA obligations?
.
Where did the notion come from that we in the United States need more foregn workers to fill the labor shortage? There is no labor shortage. Take a look at the unemployment numbers now and and those of the year 2000. Don’t look at the % of unemployed but rather (because of our rapid population grouth) look at the number of peoples out of work. I may be dyslexic but can still think.
