Illegals WILL get WELFARE!

I found this WebMemo from the Heritage Foundation. You and I may be able to survive this bill, but our children and grandchildren will be in for a tough haul. If DC has its way, the American dream will be snatched from our children and literally handed to foreign people who aggressively broke our laws on a DAILY basis!

Setting the Record Straight: Illegal Immigrants Will Receive Welfare Under Senate Bill

So let’s end welfare programs because I don’t care what citizenship status one has, it is not a constitutionally protected right.

  2. Well– when the politios start ENFORCING the laws…like say against

DEAD BEAT DADS– then it would be okay with me…

see– lawmakers LOVE to pass laws to make them look good… they just have a hard time when they are enforced…kinda like Senator Shameless whining about the INS enforcing the laws against illegals…..

  3. Mike says:

“Our country desperately needs to regain control over its borders. This bill will help us start that process and will provide the immediate relief on the border that we need.”
“This immigration bill says we are going to get tough with immigration laws; we are going to take care of the backlog; and we are going to blunt the economic magnets that draw these people into the country illegally.”
These empty words were the talk 21 yrs ago and today the air is full of empty words and with false promises.

  4. Hugh says:

Just about the entire House and Senate are comprised of Traitorous Swine, my opinion, of course!

I’m saddened that very few on this blog use the word “Treason” and “Traitors”? What’s wrong with everyone?

  5. Bill says:

What Bush proposes stands as a Trojan horse. Except, in this case, Bush drags the horse inside the walls of his own country. Just as he lacked understanding of his invasion of Iraq, he’s about to unleash this Trojan horse immigration scheme into the belly of America. It will prove deadly beyond anyone’s understanding.

  6. Bill says:

Whoever votes for this bill WILL BE LUCKY TO find A JOB AS A DOG CATCHER AFTER THE NEXT ELECTION!!! On the bright side, “dog catcher” is usually a job reserved for Americans. (Unless this bill changes that too)

  7. Hugh

    What’s wrong with everyone?

well– I will be honest with you.. it seems no one else is willing to be honest with you..

Despite the gutter that Clinton dragged us into with certain language and just plain destroying statesmanlike language and conduct that is expected…not many of us are ready for that kind of language.

    let me try to explain..

I grew up thinking that elected people were…well..honorable….had integrity…they deserved reverence and respect…

It was a respect for authority that I was taught…

    I am glad I learned it…

but– here we are…struggling between respect, and the integrity to call a spade a spade.

much like saying so and so lied..as opposed to saying…so and so IS A LIAR…

not an exact analogy…just the best example I think of at the moment…

    bottom line is this Hugh…

certain language can be too strong…it will turn people off, instead of moving them forward in thought…

If things keep proceeding the way are now– there will be a day– when your language will not just be applicable and correct, but will be NEEDED…

YOu have been ahead of us on this the whole time…

give us time to catch up..

keep challenging us.. but do not disqualify us because we are not willing to use your language…and I will not disqualify you and your points for using such language.

in all movements… it takes people of all walks and talents….and people who can talk common and those who talk politico….

each inspires those they are intended to inspire…

I love your passion….I probably agree with you on most any point…

but I am more interested in educating people on the facts than inciting the passion…

BUT–one day– we may all need YOU to be the one inciting the passion…

    just not yet…

folks are still figuring out exactly how out of control their gov’ truly is….

I trust Americans to figure it out and see it…

    and you can too!

  8. bb says:

Blame everybody else eeevil, but it takes two to tango. Make a baby with a deadbeat, guess what will be the end result…another welfare chick with multiple kids on the receiving end of redistributed wealth demanding more, more and more.

If anybody should not have kids, it is women on welfare.

  9. Bill says:

    bb
Yeah you’re right I guess. Because just as soon as we combine with Mexico I think we can get a handle on this welfare fiasco. (NOT!!)

  10. JohnKonop says:

    Bart

The talking points are not working!

  11. bb says:

    John,

So you think women on welfare should have more kids? Your liberalness is showing again.

  12. JohnKonop says:

    Bart

What are you talking about? I guess you just make stuff up when the talking points are not working!

  13. bb says:

    John,

You responded to my last post which concluded with talking point #75 — “If anybody should not have kids, it is women on welfare.”

Thus the question, So you think women on welfare should have more kids. It’s really pretty simple John…

  14. JohnKonop says:

    No I do not.

  15. LeftHook says:

I wish I had the time to research how many of your Republican hero’s were born to a parent taking money from welfare, and that eventually got off welfare (because the financial crisis, such as the depression or a house fire, or a divorce passed) and grew up to be a productive American whom you admire.

I promise you the number is not zero.

  16. bb says:

    Lefty,

Where in the constitution do the Founding Fathers call on government to redistribute wealth from those that do to those that do not (Marxist 101 or better known as the main plank in the dem platform)?

What may (emphasize MAY) have started as a small, temporary safety net to help folks get back on their feet during the depression exploded into a right of passage for way too many in our society.

Legals, illegals, whatever the citizenship status…it is past time for govt. to stop punishing achievement (i.e. forthcoming $400M tax increase on the “rich” proposed by your gal Pelosi) to reward laziness and irresponsiblity. Welfare reform of 1996 (vetoed 3x by your boy Clinton) was a good start, but not even close to a final solution.

  17. Mac says:

We’re getting away from the point, and as much as it surprises me, I actually agree with bb. What were once “safety net dollars” for people truly strapped, are now “guaranteed entitlements” for any lay about who decides to visit the local government trough office and get on the dole. The U.S. Constitution in no way allows this practice, but ‘We the People’ have allowed the bureaucrats to bastardize that precious document.

Allowing illegals to “collect their share” of welfare and other government redistribution programs, and share in the American dream does a disservice to all those people who’ve played by the rules in the hope of achieving that dream legitimately.

Hugh – your passion is showing. While I believe the word “treason” may well be appropriate, I’m not (yet) prepared to use it until I see how our elected “leaders” behave over the next few weeks. They still have a chance to put this debacle right and kill the bill. Here’s hoping they take the ball and run with it. It’s incumbent on all of us to help them along.

John Konop for U.S. Senate – It’s time for a change!

  18. LeftHook says:

bb: It’s in article 1, section 8: “The Congress shall have power to…collect taxes [and]…provide for the…general welfare of the United States.”

You’re confusing a policy disagreement with a Constitutional problem (which doesn’t exist). You guys just have a short memory. If it didn’t happen in your life time then it’s not important. That goes for The Great Depression (based on fiscal irresponsibility) and social programs (based on needless suffering).

  19. LeftHook says:

Those laws were passed for good reasons.

  20. Bart–

for the record- Women on welfare should NOT be having babies.– I agree!!!

    This is a problem.

But once again– there you go, defending the lawbreakers (dead beat dads- having a baby on welfare is NOT against the law) and defending those who do NOT enforce the law…

but even more abvious is your attempt to change the topic.

the bill is a HORRIBLE travesty- and a trap.

just admit it for Pete’s sake.

  21. bb says:

    eeevil,

The only thing we know for sure is that IRCA did not work. Blame Bush, blame whoever, but it is not working.

s1348 as introduced has flaws, but it at least is a step toward rectifying policies that allowed millions to cross the border illegally.

I strongly disagree with any funding for a physical barrier. I hope we can get funding for technology that will provide a real border line.

I strongly disagree with forcing private companies to do the job government is supposed to do.

I strongly disagree with a national ID.

I know I’ve written it before, but we the people are ultimately at fault for permitting this to get to the point where there is no realistic way to account for millions of illegal immigrants in this country. If you look back at the past four election cycles since 2000, it was not even in the top 5 issues discussed by federal candidates. The blame does not fall completely on President Bush, or either of the GA senators, it is the American people who looked the other way (same as we are doing while private property rights are usurped daily including the new ATL tree ordinance passed last night whereby a homeowner may only cut one tree every 5 years…now that is big government run amok).

  22. Bart

You strongly disagree with businesses following the law?

    nice to know!

  23. bb says:

No eeevil, I strongly disagree with businesses having to enforce laws that government cannot/will not do.

Will you support paying private business to do the job government is supposed to do, but cannot or will not? This is especially relevant for small companies which comprise over 80% of the businesses in America. There are already so many regulations that it is becoming less attractive every year to pursue the American dream of starting and running a business.

We need less government regulation, not more eeevil.
