We didn’t introduce this kind of behavior.
But is it happening more or less often since we deposed Saddam? If more, are we morally responsible?
Saddam was a bad guy, but he was very tolerant of other religions. This was one of the reasons we backed him originally.

There’s just such a shortage of good dictators anymore.
Although I’m sure the CIA did put Saddam through some very extensive psychological testing as well as studying his personality to see if he had the Right Stuff to be a submissive international puppet for Western Regimes, I don’t think his religious indifference was a major factor in giving him Iraq.

Of course I’m very disturbed by this and unlike some Americans I don’t believe in meddling with other country’s religions or philosophies or “Judging” them either. And anyone who thinks we can destroy Sharia law with bombs and tanks must have some wires loose in their heads. Guess what? War > poverty > fear > fundamentalism.
