It begins: Palin didn’t know Africa was a continent, claims Fox News

This is bad for Palin!

HOTAIR-Via Ace, a tasty pile of shinola straight from the stovetop of disgruntled McCain staffers. It’s too cute by half, as is the detail about NAFTA; they might as well have tossed in a story about her having to guess who’s buried in Grant’s tomb. To believe it, you have to believe she figured out a way to become governor of Alaska while somehow lacking the mental power to piece together which three nations might be involved in the North American Free Trade Agreement. Diehard ‘Cuda-haters like Sullivan will, of course, be more than happy to oblige.

You’ll find another clip from Fox that aired earlier today below the Carl Cameron video. See if you can figure out the thematic link. Exit question: If she’s really this much of an abject imbecile, how did that detail manage to escape the attention of Newsweek? There’s no sign of it in their highlight reel of the dishiest dirt they learned about the campaign, a piece which actually includes a quote from another aide about “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast” as if to prove that they’re not holding back on the ‘Cuda.

  1. LeftHook says:

I’m kinda suprised the Thrilla from Wasilla didn’t know Africa was a continent because she reads a lot of books and newspapers… basically all of ‘em.

  2. JohnKonop says:

Why did Fox not report this?

  3. LeftHook says:

And still some 46% of the country voted for her. There’s just no excuse. None.

  4. LeftHook says:

It was all given to them off the record (until after the election). Dems the rules!

  5. bb says:

    John,

You and lefty automatically take the word of McCain staffers who failed so miserably? Come on.

They are looking for a scapegoat. They found Palin. I think it will backfire on them once Palin decides to blast back.

Do either of you think Rick Davis, Steve Schmitt and the rest of the dumbasses running McCain’s campaign have a shred of credibility?

  6. JohnKonop says:

    Bart

Is FOX NEWS out to get Palin?

  7. bb says:

    John,

How about answering my question first — Do either of you think Rick Davis, Steve Schmitt and the rest of the dumbasses running McCain’s campaign have a shred of credibility?

  8. LeftHook says:

bb: I’m kind of suprised to hear you jump to her defense. What do you care whether the goods come out on Palin? She’s the kind of fundamentalist nut-job that’s destroying your party. There’s no indication she’s a fiscal conservative, based on the debt she left Wasilla with.

Shouldn’t a ‘real’ conservative relish watching Palinism being ground out?

  9. LeftHook says:

bb: As for your question, simply, no. But look, they refused to let her hold a press conference. That’s all the confirmation of this story I need.

  10. JohnKonop says:

    Bart

Why are they going after Palin?

  11. bb says:

Again John, why not answer my question, then we can move forward. I answered yours in my original post.

  12. bb says:

    Lefty,

I find it offensive for idiots to try and blame others for their mistakes.

Palin was not the problem, she pulled a dead campaign out of the ditch. Unfortunately she then had to work with the McCainiacs who immediately tried to change her.

I look forward to seeing how she does on her own over the next year. She may be a complete idiot, or she may turn out to be as savvy as she has been to knock off powerful crooks in Alaska. The GOP needs a fresh face with fresh ideas…Palin deserves a shot without being hindered by a bunch of losers trying to salvage their political consultant careers.

  13. Aubrey says:

It’s odd how the media at large unquestionably sought to destroy Sarah Palin and continue to do so. Do they feel she’s that much of a threat in 2012?

The suggestions that Palin was the weak link on the ticket is just silly. McCain was the weakness. Ann Coulter is even vowing to hunt down every Republican who voted for McCain in the primary.

  14. captain_menace says:

Look, she’s not smart. This isn’t news.

That’s not why she was selected. She looks good and says the things that rightwingers want to hear. It’s really not that complicated. Look how bb, Aubrey, and others on this site latched onto her so tightly without really even knowing a thing about her except what they heard from their preferred news outlets.

Alaska just elected a convicted felon (Ted Stevens) to the Senate; he was convicted less than a month ago on seven felony counts.

You all truly don’t understand how low the bar is set in Alaska.

  15. Bill says:

Everybody has their glaring weaknesses including politicians. Even Captain Menace probably has some obscure area of knowledge that he’s neglected in his studies.

  16. Bill says:

Personally I’d be happy with a few less “J school” graduates as well as Lawyers, and some more folks with some basic knowledge of political geography in the media, the government and in general.

  17. Bill says:

I still don’t know what they teach for 4 years in J school (Journalism) Anyway here’s the 57 State remix (from the memory hole)

  18. bb says:

    CM,

She is smart enough to go from being a nobody hockey mom to Governor then VP nominee. Luck and good looks don’t make that happen.

Do you think McCain lost because of Sarah Palin as his staff seems to want to imply?

  19. Bill says:

They did good bringing in someone from outside the beltway. Perhaps they thought they control Palin with her lack of knowledge. But like I’ve said before (and I don’t know how this would go politically) but I think Tancredo, Lou Dobbs, or John Dean would have made excellent choices for VP as far as taking the party in a better direction. Of course the Republican machinery isn’t capable of turning on itself like this, getting back to it’s roots or admitting to mistakes.

  20. bb says:

    Bill,

Why would it be good for the GOP to nominate a liberal (Dobbs, Dean) or a one issue wonder (Tancredo) for VP?

  21. captain_menace says:

“Do you think McCain lost because of Sarah Palin as his staff seems to want to imply?”

I think she was part of it. Anyone who seriously considered the VP as part of their voting criteria automatically have to discount Palin. I really wish it were otherwise, as we are stuck with her for the long term. Call me a snob, but I admire those who seek to understand and learn. Palin is not in that group.

I also think that if America had seen the McCain that appeared on election night and gave his concession speech, I think it would have been a completely different race. This McCain was absent throughout most of the race.

  22. Aubrey says:

    CM

I think that you have some fixed notion that Americans are largely leftists, like yourself. You need to get out of Alaska more.

  23. bb says:

    CM,

Using your criteria, wouldn’t it make even more sense for those “seriously considering the [PRESIDENT] as part of their voting criteria automatically have to discount Obama”?

Although I disagree with you about Palin, I empathize with your dismay over having a governor so close to leaving office for a higher position, then it doesn’t happen. Many in GA hoped our boy Sonny would have been part of a McCain cabinet.

  24. Bill says:

How are Lou Dobbs or John Dean liberals? I like John Dean because of his book “Conservatives without Conscience”. And Lou Dobbs is all about “American First”. Not corporate elitists. Tancredo is #1 on immigration.

  25. JohnKonop says:

    Aubrey

Why do you call CM a liberal?

I would say he is much more conservative than Bush or McCain.

  26. bb says:

    Bill,

I consider Dobbs to be nuts with a small following made up mainly of conspiracy theorists and xenophobes.

John Dean is a (w)ussy. What has he ever done to move the conservative agenda forward (snitching doesn’t count)?

  27. Bill says:

I’ll ask the same question: How are Lou Dobbs and John Dean liberals?

  28. bb says:

    Protectionist policies – Dobbs.

Dean is not even worth discussing, he is a complete non-factor.

  29. David O'Rear says:

    “Knowledgability” ?

    = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

    LeftHook,

We’ve had almost 8 years of idiots trying to blame others for their mistakes. Aren’t you used to it by now?

    = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

    Aubrey,

Yes, Gov. Palin is a threat, but not to the Democratic Party. She is a threat to the GOPers and – I’ll stick my neck out here – to America. In fact, anyone trying to be a national politician who doesn’t know the participants in NAFTA or the national make up of Africa is a threat to us all.

As for Ms Coulter, I’ll hold her reloads on that hunt.

    = = = = = = = = = = = = = = =

    bb,

You seem to have automatically taken for granted that anything anyone says bad about any GOPer or good about any Democrat must be a lie.

And, as for Howard Dean, well let’s not forget that his 50-state strategy just handed the GOPers the biggest defeat in many a year.

  30. bb says:

Howard Dean was the lucky benefactor of the GOP’s f ups…my dog could have run the so-called 50 state strategy.

  31. captain_menace says:

I’m definitely NOT a social conservative, that’s probably why he calls me a liberal.

  32. Bill says:

John Dean definitely ain’t Howard Dean.

  33. paul walter says:

I still reckon she is cuddly.

  34. paul walter says:

Actually, it is quite serious to not know that Africa is incontinent.
    Think of the consequences.

  35. paul walter says:

Hey, you are all jumping on the Captain for his comments; 22.
Now, if the woman doesn’t know where Africa when she’s a heartbeat away from the big job, doesn’t that say something for the commonsense of the electorate voting as it has?

  36. Bill says:

Perhaps Biden is the smartest of the four. I think the intelligent Obama may simply be stagecraft as all his college records have been sealed. This guy was sponsored, nurtured from an early age and surrounded by radical leftists and elitists. Facts is facts.

  37. Aubrey says:

If you really believe that Palin didn’t know that Africa was a continent or who is involved w/NAFTA . . . I’ve got some ocean front property in Colorado to sell ya’.

John, no offense, but how can I explain why I see CM as a leftist when you think of yourself as a conservative? We clearly have different definitions of what the labels mean.

  38. Bill says:

We don’t know what she said about Africa/South Africa and the Country/continent subject without a video. The media has been known to lie and exaggerate before.

  39. Bill says:

    Paul Walter
SOUTH Africa is incontinent. Africa is about containment. If you get it wrong theres UNINTENDED consequences.

  40. paul walter says:

Actually, she’s issued an indignant denial; reckons the press are “jerks”, which is one of the few issues on which she’s going close to near-unanmous agreement.
    Enough of your bladder, Bill.

  41. paul walter says:

Bill; acknowledge your thesis re “trickle down”. Am actually prostate before you in admiration.
