It Scares Me When Buchanan Makes Sense

Buchanan nails Ahmadinejad at Ground Zero and the right’s Islamo-facist-phobia.

Townhall: It would be an obscenity, we are told, if Ahmadinejad were allowed to place a wreath at Ground Zero. This is a public relations stunt that should never be permitted….But that wreath-laying would have said something else, as well.

It would have said that, to Iran, these Americans were victims who deserve to be honored and mourned and, by extension, the men who killed them were murderers. Bin Laden celebrates 9-11. So do all America-haters. By laying a wreath at Ground Zero, the president of Iran would be saying that in the war between al-Qaida and the United States, he and his country side with the United States. How would we have been hurt by letting him send this message?

Townhall: … what Colin Powell had to say to GQ magazine needs to be heard. Terrorism, said Powell, is not a mortal threat to America.

“What is the greatest threat facing us now?” Powell asked. “People will say it’s terrorism. But are there any terrorists in the world who can change the American way of life or our political system? No. Can they knock down a building? Yes. Can they kill somebody? Yes. But can they change us? No. Only we can change ourselves. So what is the great threat we are facing?”

History and common sense teach that Powell speaks truth.

    LeftHook,

Buchanan is just repeating what he’s heard.

So, the world hasn’t come to an end.

But, if parrots like Buchanan could grow into intelligent, moral, and compassionate human beings, the end would be near.

If More Democrats like Hillary had listen to Pat we would not have the problems in Iraq!

The same with trade, immigration and No Child!

  3. Mad Dog says:

    John,

In your humble opinion there are more Democrats like Hilliary?

Or, in your humble opinion Hilliary listened to Pat but other Democrats didn’t?

Pat was against the Iraq war while Hillary voted for it.

  5. caroline says:

    John,
The number of Dems who voted against the war is 10-20x what the GOP did. Trying to equalize this kind of thing doesn’t help your case. Why aren’t you giving the people who did vote against it a pat on the back?

  6. caroline says:

    John,
You’re also ignoring the fact that if every Democrat had voted against it, it wouldn’t have changed a thing. You seem to have forgotten that the GOP controlled everything. Perhaps your statement should be “if the Republicans in the senate and congress had done their job we wouldn’t be in this mess”.

  7. JohnKonop says:

I was just talking about Hillary who thinks she made a good vote based on the information she had at the time.

Hillary should of called Pat to help her understand the issues in Iraq.

  8. Bill says:

I love it when Buchanan jumps in with controversial issues. It’s worth it just to see everybody freak out.

  9. JohnKonop says:

    Bill

    I agree!

  10. David O'Rear says:

On the basis of official (mal)Administration lies, Senator Clinton voted.

    This is Dubious’ War.

    Never forget it.
