I am bias because I am a CEO. I have taken reasonable pay package and yet have a big upside in deals that I have done as an executive if it does well.
I do not think the government should not be involved. The problem is private companies with small group of stock holders tend to structure the deals I am under. Public deals tend to have the deals that you read about in the paper. The real issue I think is stock holder’s rights in public deals and disclosures. Yet lawsuits are making companies think twice.
I will say a public company is a rough deal because you are driven by analysis that pushes for short term growth without any reality of the situation. That is why I like private deals with everyone having money in the game.
As far as this working in the GOP I say no. You have NEOCONS who are driven by mindless talking points. And you have independents who tend toward a conservative/libertarian view of the world who think as long as the customer has proper disclosures they have to decide risk vs. reward when they invest.
Also I use the fact that I take care of employees as an advantage to find investors or debt.
Governor Huckabee is correct with his remarks in this video. Take a look at the salary packages for the CEOs of hospitals and
hospital systems. (http://www.wherethemoneygoes.com)
I do not know if the governor’s commentary will work to win the nomination. But I think many people are aware of the outright greed that has become the core of capitalism and are disgusted with it.
I do know that until a courageous politician removes the outright greed from our health care system while assuring acceptable profit margins for our wonderful health care businesses, our health care system will remain unchanged and continue to be a wealth care system. My solution is a properly run single payer system that has as its primary goal clear and equal access to vital, comprehensive health care for everyone living in the USA.
The “free-market” concept in health care has led to the BIG DOLLAR PIE—’grab as big a slice as you can.’ It has not lead to equal accessibility to sound, ongoing doctor—patient relationships in every community in America.
This is why Huckabee is not a frontrunner — HE IS A LIBERAL! Just look at his record in Arkansas.
Matthews’ question was built around a false premise as was later discoverd. That union guy HAS a FULL PENSION with healthcare. He was a shill for John Edwards.
Lastly, maybe Huckabee should worry about his own industry before going off after honest CEOs trying to make a living. Seems the U.S. Senate is investigating ministers who live extravagant lifestyles by taking money from seniors and other susceptible targets. Does Reverend Mike want to reign in excessive religious profits? — http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/grassley_evangelists/2007/11/06/47160.html
