Obama’s Father’s Day Speech Urges Black Fathers To Be More Engaged In Raising Their Children

I respect obama for making this speech!

HP-Barack Obama and his family celebrated Father’s Day by attending Sunday services at the Apostolic Church of God on Chicago’s South Side, where Obama gave a speech highly critical of absent black fathers. He urged them to remember their filial responsibilities and be more engaged in raising their children. Obama reminded the congregation of his own experience growing up without a father, saying that if he could be anything in life, he would be a good father to his daughters.

Read Obama’s speech below.

Good morning. It’s good to be home on this Father’s Day with my girls, and it’s an honor to spend some time with all of you today in the house of our Lord.

At the end of the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus closes by saying, “Whoever hears these words of mine, and does them, shall be likened to a wise man who built his house upon a rock: and the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house, and it fell not, for it was founded upon a rock.” [Matthew 7: 24-25]

The messiah has spoken, let it be the law.

Are you against Black Fathers Being More Engaged In Raising Their Children and why?

  3. Hugh says:

I recall by late father telling me over 50 years ago that black males just typically had loose “shack-up” arrangements and rarely were married. Some things never change!

  4. JohnKonop says:

    Hugh

It was a very good speech.

  5. bb says:

    John,

Who IS against ANY father being a responsible FATHER?

Why does your race baiter candidate ALWAYS bring skin color into the equation?

Do you faint after watching the messiah put forth such an earth shattering concept as fathers being responsible?

  6. JohnKonop says:

    Bart

You have to give credit to black leaders like Obama for taking a strong stand!

  7. Aubrey says:

Why John? Because you expect less from them?

  8. Sgt Mac says:

John – what about black leaders like Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson? Do we have to give them credit as well?

Are you even remotely aware that the number of black children born out of wedlock is approaching 70% nationwide?

Obama is right about responsiblity and fatherhood, but some of the people supporting him are CLEARLY of another mindset.

  9. bb says:

    No John, I don’t.

Could a white candidate give that speech identifying irresponsible black fathers (your media icon Olberman would immediately have “whitey” as his worst person in the world)?

How many irresponsible black guys (future, current fathers) wait for direction from a half black Harvard grad about parenting?

  10. JohnKonop says:

    Sgt Mac

That is the point leaders like Jackson never make the point!

  11. Hugh says:

    John,
I did hear part of the speech, and it was good, no question. I’m glad he gave the speech.

But I did want to make that observation by my late father as what was true then, seems to still essentially be the case. Sort of supports my general argument that groups can be very different and “multiculturalism” is devastating to a healthy unified community!

Do you and Rush do drugs/meds with each other?

  13. David O'Rear says:

    Mr Konop,

    You don’t get it.

bb, Hugh, Sgt Mac and Aubrey would much rather, perpetuate the class and race divide than work to solve it.

When Sen. Obama denies the excuse that racism is the reason black families are less likely to have two parents than white families, he takes away something special to our commentators above.

    Racism.

    .

  14. bb says:

    Yes John, we do.

Now what does that have to do with you and DOR’s deep, almost sexual admiration of a marxist race baiter?

  15. captain_menace says:

bb, you get a prize for putting the words sexual and marxist in the same sentence together.

You’re more creative than I gave you credit for.

  16. Sgt Mac says:

Davey – Sometimes you out-do yourself with foolishness.

How on earth is that racist? If espousing the values of the traditional family is racist, I’m the biggest racist on the planet.

I suggest you re-read what I wrote Davey. Your wrong so often it’s laughable.

  17. JohnKonop says:

    Bart

    Stay off the Rush drug/meds.

  18. bb says:

    John,

Why won’t you answer my question(s)?

Do you think a white candidate could give the same speech?

And, why does your race baiting candidate always have to bring skin color into his speeches?

  19. Mae Jackson says:

I can’t imagine Obama addressing a white audience and speaking to them in the manner he has spoken to the Black audience. He certainly should say something about all the young white children(from a two parent home) going on a rampage killing their fellow students. He certainly has suckered the Black community…but then that’s history.

P.S. was his speech written by his three young white speech writers?

  20. Sgt Mac says:

Come on Mae. Are the numbers about black children born into single parent homes untrue?

This should not be an issue of race. Rather, it should be an issue of values.

The number of kids growing up with no dad – black, white, purple, green, or navy blue – is something our ENTIRE society should be ashamed about. Its symptomatic of a much larger problem with the left-wing culture, and will destroy this Nation.

  21. Single Dad Lee says:

As a single parent myself, i understand the difficulties single parents have to endure. wether its custody battles, residency orders, or just coping with being a single parent!

As a single father i have put together a website full of advice and useful information and resources. http://www.imwithdaddy.com

    Thank you
