Oxendine to Cagle: Let Us Stand United in Our Support for Saxby
Does this help Oxendine with his run?
Statement by Commissioner John Oxendine:
I have directed my campaign to cease all Georgia based fundraising of new campaign dollars in my campaign for Governor, from the first day of a runoff for the U.S. Senate until the close of the polls on 2 December.
Additionally, I will reach out to all of my maxed out contributors and urge them to contribute to Saxby’s campaign.
I have asked my party for the honor to serve as the head of our state party in 2010 as our nominee for Governor. I feel strongly the members of the Georgia Republican Party are seeking new leadership and demand a statesman not a typical politician. Accordingly, I know that suspending fundraising on new Georgia dollars is the appropriate and moral position to take and I do so with humility, confidence, and pride.
I invite Casey Cagle, who has filed the necessary paper work to raise contributions for the 2010 primary for Governor, to join me in this support for Saxby.
I have directed my staff to contact Saxby’s staff regarding campaigning for Saxby if there is a runoff. I have already taken steps to reschedule existing meetings and find time on the schedule to campaign for Saxby in cities where I am already scheduled and would be inappropriate to reschedule.
The primary focus of the Oxendine Governor 2010 campaign and Team Oxendine is to be of service to Senator Chambliss and his campaign should there be a runoff.
