Poll: Distrust of U.S.on rise around world
How big of an issue is it to you that our Global popularity is dropping?
Global survey shows unease with American policy, China’s military growth
WASHINGTON – Unease with American foreign policy and President Bush has intensified in countries that are some of the closest U.S. allies and around the globe, while Russia and China also face growing international wariness, a survey released Wednesday said.
Support for the U.S.-led war in Iraq, the NATO military action in Afghanistan and worldwide American efforts against terrorism have dropped since 2002, according to an international survey by the nonpartisan Pew Research Center. Views of the United States in much of the Muslim world remain particularly negative.
In one measure of Bush’s unpopularity, the poll showed he is less trusted on foreign policy than Russian President Vladimir Putin by allies Britain, Germany and Canada, even as faith in Putin has plummeted. About half in the United States say they have little or no trust in either leader’s conduct of foreign affairs.

It should surprise no one that our “popularity” around the globe seems to be at an all time low. When you consider the left media’s fascination with bashing virtually everything remotely American, it would be surprising if we were anything but disliked and mis-trusted around the world.
I find it odd that those who bash us most are the first to come with hat in hand when they need something. We have always been generous to other Nations and I have a simple solution to stop the bashing; If they choose to slam us for one thing or another, cut off any aid we provide them. It’s high time that we who pay the fiddler called the tune.
John Konop for U.S. Senate – It’s time for a change!
Mac – the “liberal media” invaded Iraq, withdrew from Kyoto, withdrew from the international criminal court…
You’re in denial. Republicans did all of those things.
Or maybe John Bolton was the perfect choice to represent us at the UN…maybe the countries he worked with actually loved him, and the liberal media just lied about his performance.
As for “John Konop for Senate”
I’ve told him many times that he needs to find a veteran in a wheelchair, ask if he’s a Democrat. If the vet is a Democrat, he just needs to make sure there’s a camera to tape him rolling the guy down a flight of stairs and Georgia will send him to DC no problem.
Al – your reply is typical of a left-wing stalwart. Deny, deny, deny. Let me take these points one at a time….only…..I’ll actually mix in the facts you “accidentally” forgot to include…
The left is AT LEAST as responsible as republicans for invading Iraq, but you failed to mention that. So what? Don’t let a little thing like facts get in the way of an otherwise good attack on republicans.
As for Kyoto, not a SINGLE nation who signed on has kept their promise. We did the right thing for the people of the U.S. Again, in typical left-wing fashion you find it necessary to “blame America first,” when the facts don’t support your leftist assertion. You and the rest of the fanatical tree-hugging “global warming” crowd refuse to acknowledge ANY scientific evidence that refutes your assertions. Don’t you think it’s funny how these global warming people are THE SAME ONES who claimed we were entering anothe Ice Age a scant 30 years ago? I find it hysterical.
Please…show me ANYTHING in the U.S. CONSTITUTION that says we, AMERICANS, should be bound by the “International Criminal Court.” Are you kidding me?
Americans are bound by the laws of OUR land and extradition treaties can handle the transfer of Americans abroad.
Bolton is the best ambassador the U.S. has had in the last 25 years or so. He didn’t “lay down” to that “great collection of intellectual, socialist elites.” He did the right thing and put the interests of the U.S. at the forefront.
Finally, to your point regarding John and Veterans…I served 22 years for this Country and I’m proud to have done so. I may very well support John for U.S. Senate and you can rest assured I’ll be keeping an eye on John or ANY candidate that puts veterans on the back burner.
I have to use the same question with you as John used with Bart….why do you hate America so much?
John Konop for U.S. Senate – Georgia’s Veterans are counting on you!
