Racial tensions roil Democratic race
Will this strategy backfire on Hillary?
POLITICO-A series of comments from Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, her husband and her supporters are spurring a racial backlash and adding a divisive edge to the presidential primary as the candidates head south to heavily African-American South Carolina.
The comments, which ranged from the New York senator appearing to diminish the role of Martin Luther King Jr. in the civil rights movement — an aide later said she misspoke — to Bill Clinton dismissing Sen. Barack Obama’s image in the media as a “fairy tale” — generated outrage on black radio, black blogs and cable television. And now they’ve drawn the attention of prominent African-American politicians.
UPDATE
Obama Camp’s Memo on Clintons’ Politicizing Race

The Carolina Primary should be interesting.
I would bet on McCain and Obama.
I do think Obama has a very good chance. The Clintons are becoming less popular and Bill doesn’t seem to be helping Hillary much at all.
On the GOP side, I think it is too jumbled up and they are desperate and each one is not looking that good against Obama.
The nation’s votes are looking for “change,” even though they don’t know what “change” should include. Why?
Because for decades they have been told the wrong things about what government should do. Here is a long and good article from the Ludwig von Mises Institute on what Government “SHOULDN’T do during a time like now.
How the Business cycle works by
Murray N. Rothbard
However, if the government did what he says should be done, they would be run out of town on a rail. For decades the citizens have been led to believe just the opposite. However, what they have been led to believe may be why we are in the mess we are in and why we may be facing even worse times.
Good post Jan!

Haven’t we learned yet that the neocons are out for themselves and the multinatinal corporations, and globalism WITHOUT legal restraint apparently? They’re robbing us blind. We’re talking trillions here. And oh yeah, that little “freedom” thing too. How are we going to fix the economy without that little jewel?
If Traitor McCain wins in South Carolina, it will mean those citizens have completely lost their minds or that Diebold has perfected their ability to manipulate the vote count.
Recall this is the state of Traitor Senator Lindsey Graham, who lined up with McCain to attempt to force AMNESTY upon America. The people pushed back hard and defeated the AMNESTY. And they surely wouldn’t have forgotten that battle of just last year.
But again, the validity of the vote is a major wild card. The scum at the top of this nation have unlimited money and power and are intent on bringing down the United States and folding it into a North American Union. They might let us keep our American flags, so long as they measure no more than 4 inches by 5 inches, but that’s about it. That’s their plan!
This nation is greatly divided and deeply confused. For decades we have let the media, politicians, and our educational system create this confusion.
But, ultimately it is the fault of the people. It is also normal in any prosperous society to let “somebody else” have the power because we are “too busy” to get involved in enough numbers to keep this from happening.
But, the corporatism is a direct result of our tax code. We have allowed Congress to have a code that taxes the people we should regulate. A society has to have innovators, companies, employers, etc. if it is to have the prosperity we have.
Because we have to have them, but also want to tax and regulate them so “we aren’t hurt” by them, we allow the government to have a tax code that both punishes and rewards and that “power” is easily corrupted. The people who control the shares of stock also, often are huge influences on Congress because they have the “threat.” That threat is that they will leave or that profits that can be taxed will be reduced if they don’t get breaks, contracts, subsidizes, grants, etc. That is why as simple tax code like so many foreign nations are going to is needed if we are not only going to be competitive, but reduce the relationship between companies and Congress. But, as long as we leave power in Washington, with the ability to exempt or grant loopholes, there will be corruption. Only when influencing Congressmen won’t change the code, will they stop trying to influence them.
Only when after tax profits aren’t tied to what Congress grants or doesn’t grant will they stop doing what they are doing.

What people don’t realize is the NAU and open borders are “connected” to our loss of liberty here at home. It’s a “Corporatocracy”. And the U.S. Constitution is what keeps these scum running around in a cold sweat. And in a related subject John Konop could write a book on some of these rotten trade deals.
Much of what government and corporations, especially financial corporations which have helped get us in this mess, have done may be costing American and huge price that is going to make them so mad, they will “throw the bums out.”

Voracious, spendthrift consumers in the United States have driven the global economy out of balance, and only a massive repricing of U.S assets – including up to a 30 percent decline in home values – can fix it.
That’s the view of Stephen Roach, chairman of Morgan Stanley Asia, writing in the Financial Times this week.
“America’s current account deficit is due more to bubbles in asset prices than to a misaligned dollar,” Roach wrote in an editorial. “A resolution will require more of a correction in asset prices than a further depreciation of the dollar.”
A weakening U.S. dollar might help, but it won’t solve the real problem – a huge trade imbalance financed by a huge spending binge by American consumers.

I believe Americans losing 30% of what they thought was secure is going to make them very mad. They should be mad a both parties but, I think the GOP is going to take the brunt of the rage in the next election since a lot of that loss may occur before then. And, I think the Democrats will be able to spin it so that rage is directed to the GOP. And, the GOP does deserve some of the blame, but not all.
Look at those other articles that were included. Just the titles should make some angry as we can see from them, how deep this problem is and how it is impacting average Americans.
This part of the article is what we need to focus on.

Yet, the government could still mess up what is a long overdue adjustment, Roach warned. Adding liquidity would simply put more easy money back into the hands of Americans addicted to easy money, compounding the problem.
“Washington policymakers and politicians need to stand back and let this adjustment play out,” Roach said. “Yet the U.S. body politic is panicking in response.”
Roach also warned presidential contenders not to bash China for what is a problem of discipline at home. The United States carries a trade deficit with 40 countries, not just China.

He is basically saying after this comment that, we need a recession that isn’t “bailed out,” by “more credit.”
I don’t think his advice will be heeded by either party and I don’t think the majority of voters want it heeded.
