"We don't need a history lesson"...

Yes...because you don't need to understand the situation. Everyone in the US obviously already understands the history of the Middle East.

Bill showed his normal arrogance. Ron Paul was restraining himself from getting into a shouting match.

After the collapse of Communism the military industrial complex went looking for new enemies. And the neo-cons have been beating the war drums in oil country ever since. We got a better ROI (return on investment) when we provided the Stinger missiles to the Muhjahadeen in Afghanistan against the Soviet Union. Bill O'Reilly will never be a Reagan Conservative when it comes to the Middle East.

Not a big fan of Bill's, but he ate Paul's lunch in that exchange.

America's foreign policy should not be based upon the principle of waiting to be attacked before acting. This may have worked in the old days of nations battling each other with uniformed armies, but not now under current terroristic terms of engagement. We either take them on or get taken out.

Too bad Paul cannot grasp this new practice of war forced upon the U.S.

Just curious if anyone knew if the expected cost to operate a peacetime military, including their "war games", etc., was deducted when calculating this estimated $1.6 trillion.
