Can we trust Rudy?
Politico-As New York mayor, Rudy Giuliani billed obscure city agencies for tens of thousands of dollars in security expenses amassed during the time when he was beginning an extramarital relationship with future wife Judith Nathan in the Hamptons, according to previously undisclosed government records.
The documents, obtained by Politico under New York’s Freedom of Information Law, show that the mayoral costs had nothing to do with the functions of the little-known city offices that defrayed his tabs, including agencies responsible for regulating loft apartments, aiding the disabled and providing lawyers for indigent defendants.
At the time, the mayor’s office refused to explain the accounting to city auditors, citing “security.”

NV-Rudy Giuliani dismissed a report Wednesday that he expensed the cost of his security detail to obscure city offices for trips to a Long Island resort as the then-mayor began an extramarital affair with current wife Judith Nathan.
He didn’t, however, offer an explanation for why the tens of thousands of dollars in costs, which aides say were routine expenses for protection for the mayor, were billed to city offices like the Office for People With Disabilities.

It seems that the internet blogs that get their news from Washington DC and campaigns are predicting that Rudy is toast now because of this story. Rumor is that he’ll probably drop out before the end of the year or maybe after losing IA and NH.
Who do you think fed the info to Politico? I think Romney.

No matter where Rudy went, his security detail must tag along. If he was visiting his brother on Long Island, the expense would be there.
Is this the best you dems have? If so, Rudy will not only be in the race until the convention, he will escape issue scrutiny due to this misguided effort.

I stated it’s a rumor. I know the difference between rumor and fact unlike certain conservatives.
He used accounting tricks to hide the expenses. If it all was on the “up and up” why did he hide the costs?
The best? No, the best is the fact that Rudy used the World Trade Towers as a security command central against the advice of terrorism experts. And he put it there because it was a better place to meet Nathan.
I would imagine that this came from a Republican campaign. I’m sure that Dem’s are going to wait for the nomination to release everything. It would be lots more damaging then than now. Can you imagine the campaign imploding before the GOP convention.

Bernard B. Kerik, who was Mr. Giuliani’s police commissioner when some of the charges were billed, said in an interview yesterday that the security detail’s travel expenses would normally come out of the Police Department’s budget.
“There would be no need for anyone to conceal his detail’s travel expenses,” said Mr. Kerik, who was indicted earlier this month on unrelated federal tax fraud and corruption charges. “And I think It’s ridiculous for anyone to suggest that the mayor or his staff attempted to do so.”
Well that settles that, right?

You are more similar to Hillary than Bush. You both want to surrender to terrorists, provide government healthcare, raise taxes, increase spending, maintain the status quo in education….the only question left to decide is who you will support if she does not win the dem nomination.
As for Rudy, I would say let’s wait and see what the real truth is before deciding he is guilty. So far, all we have are allegations, some from former employees who may have a personal agenda. If he misused taxpayer funds to impress Judith Nathan, then he should be forced to repay the money. That is what happens whenever the Clintons get caught…just give back the cash.

No John, read my post…I am for waiting to see if the allegations have any merit. If proven true, then as I wrote, Rudy should pay back whatever money was expended for the Long Island trysts.
And there is no suggestion that he paid for a “love-nest”, just the security detail that accompanied him.

Dropping out is what the pundits were predicting as I said before.
There are letters from the controller of NYC and others that were released from the freedom of information act. Is it legal to use the police as a personal limousine service for your mistress? Is it legal to charge off security to detail to departments other than the NYPD? If he had charged them to the Police Department there would probably no be a problem. They guy acts like a tin pot dictator. Do you finally get the reason that NYCer’s detested the guy when he left office. Like I said, he’s a totalitarian. I guess that’s why you like him.
