And the Captain chimes in with yet another intellectual gem. Is this how the left makes a point? I don’t care what you think of Limbaugh, Hannity, Boortz, etc., but at least put a few facts out there. Simply blathering about how much you hate someone doesn’t serve any useful point.
Your post (Why is Rush getting so much air time on this site?) indicates this is NOT a site for anything related to something other than left-wing talking points and the usual hate speach. What’s the problem captain? Are you afraid to let the other side be heard, or are you just a leftist move on.org toady? I suspect both may be true.
John - is this the “non-partisan” stuff you talk about on your home page? Just so you know, “non-partisan” means just that. I suggest you look it up in your Funk and Wagnall’s. You seem to have a very limited command of the English language.
The Konopian Theorem is difficult to satirize. Well done!
John - I almost hate to ask this, but WHAT FACTS? What I read is a re-hash of what someone else said (as noted by bb). Is that your definition of a fact?
Didn’t watch the video, but heard the song on Rush’s show…it was a funny spoof of the original column by LA Times Columnist David Ehrenstein…here’s an excerpt from the column:
“But it’s clear that Obama also is running for an equally important unelected office, in the province of the popular imagination — the “Magic Negro.”
The Magic Negro is a figure of postmodern folk culture, coined by snarky 20th century sociologists, to explain a cultural figure who emerged in the wake of Brown vs. Board of Education. “He has no past, he simply appears one day to help the white protagonist,” reads the description on Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magical_Negro .”
He thought the article (which was not satire) gave him cover to call Obama a Negro over and over and over without being accused of racism–which he clearly relishes doing, but knows better than to do, without cover.
Now the problem is, he misjudged the cover (because bigots have a hard time judging these things) and got busted, again.
Ditto-heads would not be so tolerant of a “Christians are just Jesus freaks…” song. But make it about race and you guys are ALL over it.
LeftHook in his post #10 states:
“gave him cover to call Obama a Negro over and over and over without being accused of racism”.
LeftHook, is not Obama a Negro, just as I am a Caucasian? Once “African American” becomes out of fashion with the PC crowd and they come up with another term for “Obama types”, will you be moving on to the new and improved label? I won’t. Obama is a Negro, just as I am a Caucasian. I don’t play those PC games!
Personally, i don’t see this clip as “racist” at all… it is satire pointing out some of the silly and bizarre pandering that the Left does to African Americans… like making one’s accent more southern when talking to a group of African Americans… as both Hillary and Obama have done recently… as well as the internal “turf wars” that occur between Jesse Jackson, Obama, and Al Sharpton.
If you want racism, consider Joe Biden’s comment about Obama:
“I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy,”
So… what is Biden saying about ALL other African-American politicians in our past history??? Hmmm… If anything, it is Biden’s comments that is racist, not Rush’s clip.
But i think you are missing the point… Rush’s clip is more to “poke fun at” such political infighting and race-baiting within the Democrat party. Not to participate with them on this.
THEY are the ones who are always making race the issue. And Rush is always making fun of how ridiculous they are in that way!
Hey News Hound, Rush is an addict. He’s the last person I’ll turn to for any kind of authentic analysis. That’s it. I don’t really care what comes out of his mouth. Addicts lie, and Rush is no exception.
I don’t take childcare advice from child molesters either.
I do not support Senator Barack Obama for President. Yet for Rush to push the Uncle Tom stereo type on Obama is wrong. Black leaders like Bill Cosby, Juan Williams have made it clear the concept of educated black people being to white is killing their community.
I disagree with Obama on many issues but I do respect him. When I saw this video it made me sick. And it also pushed the stereo type that if you are Republican you are a racist.
Oh good! David O’Rear-end has entered the debate. What other “educated” witticisms can you cut and paste?
As I said earlier, I don’t care what you think of Rush or any other talk show host. The point is that if this is the best you leftists can do, your side is in deep, deep trouble.
Please post something that actually adds to the discussion O’Rear-end, otherwise we might think, as I do, that you’re already posting out of your rear-end.
Captain Menace - Who said anything about taking advice from Rush? I asked if this is truly a “non-partisan” blog as advertised on the home page. Are you feeling threatened by that? LOL!!!!!!
Good!
This site is about as non-partisan as a gay, black union workers convention held in San Francisco hosted by Nancy Pelosi, Little Dicky Durbin, Harry Reid and Maxine Waters with the Dixie Chicks as the main act.
Hey bb,
Thanks for mentioning the Dixie Chicks in your post #17. They are some of my favorites. And remember, I’m a paleo-conservative, i.e. a true conservative, not the Neo-con type who has hijacked the Republican Party!

A better question is:
“Why is Rush getting so much air time on this site?”
Rush is an idiot. That’s a given. No need to keep raising the issue.

Maybe Hillary will send him a love letter and thank him.

So is it a racist video by Rush?
BTW Dems think I am to hard on Hillary.
The facts are the facts!

Was it a racist column by the LA Times writer who coined the phrase?
In Rush’s case, No to racism, it is satire.
“BTW Dems think I am to hard on Hillary.” Enough about your fantasy sex life with the former first lady John!

It’s multi-partisan, not non-partisan. That would be boring.

John,
Please explain to me:
(1) your definition of “racist”
and
(2) how or why this clip fits that definition.
