Saudis reject Bush’s plea to increase oil output
Oil companies and the Middle East kings win, consumers get killed. Is this the Bush plan for energy?
USATODAY-Saudi Arabian leaders made clear Friday they see no reason to increase oil production until their customers demand it, apparently rebuffing President Bush amid soaring U.S. gasoline prices.
During Bush’s second personal appeal this year to King Abdullah, Saudi officials stuck to their position that they are already meeting demand, the president’s national security adviser told reporters.
“What they’re saying to us is … Saudi Arabia does not have customers that are making requests for oil that they are not able to satisfy,” Stephen Hadley said on a day when oil prices topped $127 a barrel, a record high.

Bush laid out his plan in a March speech — http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2008/03/20080305.html
John, are you willing to admit the real problem rests solely with the ‘progressive’ environmental movement? If not, you will soon after the next president is elected because all support Kyoto and further environmental restrictions to prevent oil exploration, drilling and refining.

The biggest increase of oil is via out of control debt that killed the dollar.

No John, the biggest problem is environmental kooks blocking exploration and production. If we were able to utilize the oil resources within our own borders, value of the dollar would not matter.

You are flat out wrong!
One we only have 4% of the supply here. Also do the math if the dollar is worth have as much pre Bush 2.
This is why debt matters!

John,
“we only have 4% of the supply here” — how do you know John…we are not allowed to explore because of the BS environmental crap.
Again, if America had done what Americans do when not prevented by government over regulation, America would have plenty of oil thus making the dollar value on world markets significantly less important when it comes to oil.
Blame Bush all you want, but it goes much further than that John.

Face it Bush and congress spent our money and now we are paying for it.

bb, did I ever tell you that you’re a boob?
America has already harvested the good easy oil.
Where are these substantial, known, American reserves you are referring to?

Private Menace - did I ever tell you that you’re a fool? Your silly assertion that oil production “peaked” in the 1970s, and that all the easy oil has been harvested, is only true because the technology to exploit CURRENT field wasn’t available in the good old hippy dippy days of the 60s and 70s.
You post as if you actually know something when your research on the subject is clearly lacking.
You still have the 1970s mindset in the year 2008. By the LEAST optimistic views, there’s enough oil in ANWR and off our own coastlines to supply the entire Country for more than 30 years - and that doesn’t even count what might be available in places like Montana and the Dakotas. Up until recently, these areas were considered too difficult to exploit, but with current prices, it now appears to make sense to look into it as it is financially smart to do so.
Unfortunatley, the tree-huggers, caribou crowd, and spotted owl enthusiasts seem to think these things are more important than people.
I suggest you drill a bit deeper (pardon the pun)before making ridiculous assertions for which you present zero facts.
