Schumer: Bush has lost faith of the people?

Has Bush lost the faith of the American people?

(UPI) — U.S. Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., Tuesday said the economy is in its current state because U.S. President George Bush ignored repeated warnings.

In the Democratic response to Bush’s Rose Garden news conference, Schumer said Bush “has closed his eyes and put his hands over his ears as these crises have grown.

“Now all of a sudden he’s realizing the problems,” Schumer said, later adding, “He has lost control of what is going on in the American economy and lost the faith of the American people.”

Schumer also said Bush is “plain wrong” about how to address the situation. In particular, he said, opening the Alaska National Wildlife Refuge to oil exploration will do nothing to alleviate high gasoline prices, noting it will take 10 years before new oil could be produced and then it would reduce the price of gas by only a penny a gallon.

Schumer said the president cannot be both a friend to Big Oil and back lower prices.

    What did Chucky and the majority dems led by Dirty Harry and Pelosi in Congress do:

    From an email circulating around the virtual world — “Remember the election in 2006?

    A little over one year ago:

    1) Consumer confidence stood at a 2 1/2 year high;
    2) Regular gasoline sold for $2.19 a gallon;
    3) The unemployment rate was 4.5%.

    Since voting in a Democratic Congress in 2006 we have seen:

    1) Consumer confidence plummet;
    2) The cost of regular gasoline soar to over $3.50 a gallon;
    3) Unemployment is up to 5% (a 10% increase);
    4) American households have seen $2.3 trillion in equity value evaporate (stock and mutual fund losses);
    5) Americans have seen their home equity drop by $1.2 trillion dollars;
    6) 1% of American homes are in foreclosure.

    America voted for change in 2006, and we got it!

    Remember: it’s Congress that makes law, not the President. He has to work with what’s handed to him.”

    Chucky is in the majority. They promised to end the war in Iraq, that’s supposedly how they became the majority. They didn’t do it. With dems in the majority, the economy suffers…history repeats itself again.

    So Chucky instead of bitching about Bush, how about you act on some of his proposals.

  4. JohnKonop Says:

    Are you saying the democratic congress created the debt problem in one year?

  5. bb Says:

    John,

    I know this breaks you dem heart, but facts is facts.

    BTW, where in my post is debt referenced?

    Chucky in the majority, does he have a pair — http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3CvhCMazYdw

    Either do something or just shut the hell up Chucky. Under your watch the economy has tanked, the war you so adamantly oppose rages on, entitlements are bankrupting the country and your gal for president is getting her ass kicked.

    Wonder how often Chucky got his ass kicked while growing up…his revenge against America continues…

  8. bb Says:

    John,

    We are talking about the economy?

  10. bb Says:

    Where in your posted story to start this thread is debt mentioned?

    And how do you defend what has happened since dems took control of the body that sets economic policy?

  11. JohnKonop Says:

    Bart

    You think debt has nothing to do with the economy?

  12. bb Says:

    John,

    I know your boy Chucky does not mention debt to disparage Bush.

    I also know the dem congress does far more to exacerbate debt than the president.

    Now I ask you yet again the same questions from #10:

    Where in your posted story to start this thread is debt mentioned?

    And how do you defend what has happened since dems took control of the body that sets economic policy?

  13. JohnKonop Says:

    Bart

    I think both parties have plenty of blame!

  14. JohnKonop Says:

    Bart

    The debt doubled under Bush with a GOP Congress!

  15. bb Says:

    Again John, debt is not the only issue. Most of the debt comes from entitlements that Bush tried to reform.

    It is absolutely ridiculous for Chucky to be pointing a finger at anybody considering his failure to accomplish anything since being elected. That is my point…you reference a pinhead like him as if he has earned credibility with regard to reducing government’s growth…he is the problem.

    Iraq cost 3 trillion!

    Highway bill

    Farm Bill

    NCLB

    Drug Bill

    Energy Billl

    I could on and on

    The fact it is Paul O Neal who told Bush he was spending to much money to solve the entitlement problem. That is why he left the PORK HOUSE.

  18. bb Says:

    John,

    Irag has cost about $600B, stop the lies.

    Where did all those bill you mention start….CONGRESS!

    And all combined (minus drug bill which is part of Medicare), they don’t have 1/2 as much impact on debt as SS, Medicare and Medicaid.

    What did your boy Chucky do to reduce debt John?

  19. JohnKonop Says:

    That is a cash number not future liabilities.

  20. bb Says:

    What did your boy Chucky do to reduce debt, end the war, improve the economy or anything else beneficial to this country John? Stop spinning, stop obfuscating, answer this simple question that goes to the heart of this thread generated by you.

    The Iraq war is considerably less expensive when you compare the two. I’m still working on the crime numbers, but they will show that the 4,000 heroes who’ve fallen is far less than the number of our countrymen murdered, raped, or robbed by illegal criminal aliens. I’ll post those numbers as sson as I’ve completed the research……..

    Thanks for posting that…it was included with the email circulating around the internet that I posted #3.

    John,

    #20 — What has your boy Chucky done to decrease debt, improve the economy and end the war against terrorism that you so despise?

    Wouldn’t you agree that the dems have failed miserably as a majority body considering what hasn’t happened and their approval rating of around 10% (less than half of President Bush’s)?

  24. David O'Rear Says:

    bb,

    You clearly think any Democratic Party majority is far, far superior to any Republican’t majority.

    Otherwise, how in the world would you come to the conclusion that the Democratic Party, in a single year should be expected to reverse all that abuse heaped on the United States under the Republican’ts?

    .

  25. bb Says:

    Since John won’t answer the question, go for it demDOR.

    And BTW, dems had control for over 40 years…we saw how that worked out.
