Sen. McCain Key Note Speaker At ACORN Rally In 2006?
Is McCain for or against Acorn?
M… Sen. John McCain was happy to accept the honors and acclamation of the Service Employees International Union, People for the American Way, UNITE HERE — and ACORN. Here he is, on Feb. 20, 2006, telling immigration rights activists at a rally in Miami that they “are what makes America special.” ACORN co-sponsored the rally, and its volunteers surround McCain, and while there’s no evidence that McCain ever formally teamed with the group, the video serves as a reminder that he did not mind being associated with them when the politics of the moment were different….
John McCain ACORN ATTACK AD

John,
It’s about the money. Obama spoke to them too but no one cares about that, only that he gave them money.
WOW you sound like me now?
Well, John are you as mad at Pelosi as you are Boehner? I would kick both of them out of congress if it was up to me. I’m so darn sick of these jokers I could scream. Is that how you feel?

Republicans, ACORN Spar Over Voter Registration
by Pam Fessler
NPR-Charges of voter fraud have been growing in recent weeks, most notably with Republican attacks against an anti-poverty group known as the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN.
The group, which has submitted more than 1 million voter registrations, has come under fire after several thousand of the submissions were found to be phony. But the intensity of the attacks from the Republican National Committee and Sen. John McCain’s campaign has also raised questions about Republican motives.
Critics said that ACORN is part of an effort to steal votes and possibly throw the outcome of the election into doubt. Former Missouri Sen. John Danforth co-chairs the McCain campaign’s Honest and Open Election Committee, and he said whoever loses on Nov. 4 could feel cheated and want to challenge the results in court.
“If there are a number of states where the election is close and there have been many, many people registered by this organization, ACORN, and where there are numerous cases of fraudulent registration, then the contest could go on for a very long time,” he said.
Rick Hasen, an election law expert at Loyola Law School in Los Angeles, said he thinks Republicans are leveling the criticisms in case they lose.
“I think this is just part of a kind of a long-term Republican strategy to play up allegations of voter fraud,” Hasen said. “As a kind of insurance policy in case there’s a very close election.”

YES I AGREE!
Well, did you see Lou Dobb’s report on this John? There’s no doubt that ACORN has produced fraudulent registrations, sometimes registering the same person up to 75 times I read. Obama was completely stupid to give these people ANY money. They’ve been under investigation for voter fraud numerous times.
Keep the election in doubt? Maybe but if McCain wins then he won’t have to worry. It seems that the GOP has finally found something that seems to be sticking ot Obama-voter fraud. Mostly, I think because he comes from the southside of Chicago, they don’t just do voter fraud, they created it there.

From what I heard they hire people who get paid by name. The workers do try to put on as many names as possible. Yet the people cannot vote illegally because if they do not check out they kick them out. This is similar to the Gina Car dispute in Cherokee.
Gina told me getting people to get her quality names was very hard. She said the breakage was around 20% which she did not understand before getting the names.
Well, John, I do agree that getting quality names is probably a problem but why would you give almost a million dollars to an organization that is under investigation for voter fraud?
On the report on Lou Dobbs’ show, the clerk in Indiana said they got 5000 voter registrations from ACORN and had checked only 2100 of them but ALL the 2100 they had gone through were fraudulent.
I don’t fault Sen. McCain for his association with ACORN and its highly positive message of support for diversity and migrant rights.
.
After all, one cannot be expected to be responsible for the behavior of every person in each and every room one enters, right?
The issue is not that Mickey Mouse will be casting a vote on election day. ACORN’s MO is to clog the system with thousands of fake registrations and create such chaos such that poll workers are distracted from being able to appropriately oversee the voting process. ACORN can then monitor election results and bump up votes as necessary using these fake registrations with fake voters or they can use fake registrations to then claim voter suppression. In either case, their intent is have vote counts determined by a judge.

Is McCain for or against Acorn?
John,
ACORN has been federally funded for years, that alone has given it legitimacy whether deserved or not. I’m sure knowing what we know about ACORN today, he does not support this organization and as President or Senator, he will support defunding this group.

Are you saying that McCain did not know who Acorn was less than 2 years ago?
The truth is McCain used Acorn as well as La Raza to drive Hispanic support for his immigration bill.
hoads,
Did, or did not Sen John McCain speak at an ACORN event in February 2006?
