SENATOR FEINSTEIN MUST GO!!!

It is not enough that she just resign her chair on the military committee for abusing her power to enrich her family. The Democratic lawmakers ran on a “culture of corruption” in 06. If they mean what they say FEINSTEIN SHOULD RESIGN FROM THE SENATE! Can anyone give a good reason why Feinstein should still be in the Senate? Thanks Mike for the hat tip!

CC-A veteran California senator has resigned as chair of a powerful military construction committee after reports that for years she abused her position to award her husband’s companies billions of dollars in government contracts.

During her six years as chair and ranking member of the Military Construction Appropriations subcommittee, Senator Dianne Feinstein annually supervised the appropriation of billions of dollars for specific military construction projects. The San Francisco lawmaker supervised her own staff of military construction experts and she lobbied Pentagon officials to support her favorite projects.

She wielded quite a bit of power and succeeded in steering hundreds of billions of dollars in military contracts to companies partially owned by her wealthy husband, Richard Blum. One company alone earned $792 million from military construction and environmental cleanup projects approved by Feinstein’s committee and another $759 million.

So it’s not a violation of any corporate or government standards.

    Thank you for confirming that.

  2. JohnKonop says:

It is a violation if in a corporation you are sending business to a company you own. And if you did it with no bid you would be in real hot water!

  3. Mad Dog says:

    Is that what happened?

Does Feinstein “own” and “control” a private company that she has given contracts without a bidding process and proper arms length separation?

    No.

Feinstein doesn’t own or control any company. ANY company.

In the business world you could not hide behind your spouse!

  5. Mad Dog says:

    John,

No. In the business world with it’s perfect ethics, you hide behind a corporation. Or, a LLC. Or, an attorney.

Or, you do like Miliken and hide behind your spouse.

Do you know anything at all worth talking about?

  6. JohnKonop says:

I am telling you the ethic standards. I am not saying people do not violate them.

  7. Mad Dog says:

I’m telling you that you’ve never worked in a corporation with a department specifically called the Ethics Department.

You haven’t given me an ethical standard yet!

But, DAYUM, you’re certain that not only has Feinstein violated the spirit and letter of your ethical standards, she’s made HUNDREDS OF BILLIONS OF DOLLARS by cheating the taxpayer.

  8. JohnKonop says:

I am certain she violated any bacic standard of conflict of interest!

  9. Mad Dog says:

Where do I find this “bacic standard of conflict of interest?”

  10. Mad Dog says:

One that is binding on Feinstein… et al?

  11. JohnKonop says:

Do you really want to hold lawmakers to the lowest standard?

  12. Mad Dog says:

Couldn’t find a standard for conflict of interest, eh?

And, you’ve been a candidate for a congressional office?

Earned a living working in finance?

    and you run a blog…

But, you couldn’t find an ethical standard violated by Feinstien.

In so many words, you have no standards.

Are you not the Guy who was all over Sonny Perdue for much less!

Do you think Cheney was ethical with Halliburton?

  15. Mad Dog says:

    John,

This is your proof that Feinstein is unethical?

“Are you not the Guy who was all over Sonny Perdue for much less!

Do you think Cheney was ethical with Halliburton? ”

Your problem is that you want to attack Feinstein. And, you can’t find a reason.

But, OH MY GOD! Her husband makes MONEY! How dare he do that!

Blum and I both have stocks. I don’t have enough to control a defense contracting company. Blum doesn’t have enough to control a defense contracting company.

Since 2001, the fastest growing segment of the publicly traded stock market has been in defense contracting. I’ve increased my holdings. Blum has increased his holdings.

Blum sits on the Board of Directors of a company and attends the quarterly board meetings. One company that owns a subsidiary that does defense contracting. He owns less than 1% of the voting stock. He gets one vote on matters that come before the Board. IF HE CHOSES TO VOTE.

I get to vote on any matter that comes before STOCK HOLDERS! IF I chose to vote.

Now that I’ve explained how corporations do not allow stockholders and Board Members to run the daily operations or make strategic decisions or NEGOTIATE, OFFER, OR MAKE CONTRACTS…

Show me the money in Blum’s pocket from unethical behavior?

We can see the amount of money Sonny saved in taxes by having the tax code changed.

We can measure the value increase of his “family farm” by letting Oaky Woods become a private town (it will become a private town) instead of keeping it public access lands for all the citizens of Georgia.

We can see how appointing Mr. Thomas to the Economic Board benefited Mr. Thomas and Mr. Perdue with the project off 400 and 120 in Alpharetta.

You don’t have a standard for ethical.

You have no evidence, nor does anyone else have any evidence, that Feinstein or Blum personally directed tax dollars into their pockets.

Why? BECAUSE none of the company stock owned by Blum has ever paid a dividend.
