Susan Everhart is NOT trying to compare McCain with Jesus
Seriously, she’s not.
AJC: Georgia Republican Party chairwoman Sue Everhart said Saturday that the party’s presumed presidential nominee has a lot in common with Jesus Christ.
“John McCain is kind of like Jesus Christ on the cross,” Everhart said as she began the second day of the state GOP convention. “He never denounced God, either.”
Everhart was praising McCain for never denouncing the United States while he was being tortured as a prisoner of war in Vietnam.
“I’m not trying to compare John McCain to Jesus Christ, I’m looking at the pain that was there,” she said.
Will Susan next remind us that Jesus saved a whore and McCain married a “c*nt“?

I do like and respect Sue and you are taking the statement out of context.
Just because you like and respect someone doesn’t mean the AJC took her absurd injection of religion into politics out of context.
When she next “doesn’t compare” Obama to Pontius Pilate—will that be taken ‘out of context’ too?
John,
How is the statement “out of context”? Sue compared John McCain’s plight to that of Jesus Christ…kind of absurd if you ask me.
The GA GOP has long been dominated by theocrats who want to put everything into a religious context. Sue did it in a very public way as a very transparent attempt to get reluctant religious conservatives to jump on the McCainiac bandwagon. Pretty sad and proof of just how desperate the GOP is to gain support for their very liberal candidate.
I was not in the meeting and I do not speak for Sue. But I think she was merely making a point about the sacrifice McCain made for our country as a POW. I am no McCain fan but I have tremendous respect for his military service.
OK – Juan McCain is a war hero, and so was Benedict Arnold. I see more of a connection there than to Jesus Christ. Unless you wish to call him Jesus McCain.
If Sue Everhart or any other Republican really cared, they would have used their time on the stage to call out big spenders like Saxby and Johnny who are destroying the party of conservatives with support for BS legislation like the “farm bill”.
Instead, Sue compared the party’s progressive nominee to Jesus Christ. The state ED ignores the total disgust most in the party have for its halo’d nominee.
Does anybody really think religion will once again carry the GOP to victory (even with John Jesus McCain at the top of the ticket — did WWJD actually stand for, What Would John Do?)?
John,
What has Sue Everhart done as Chairman of the GA GOP to promote a conservative agenda?
Did she speak out during the latest legislative session against Sonny’s many millions for pork projects?
Did she endorse tax reform of just remain silent during one of the hottest debates in state history?
Isn’t it time to stop being nice and get on with reforming the GOP to return to a party where fiscal conservatism is cool?
I have no idea because I was not at the legislative session but I have heard Sue speak out about spending.
Also Sue has not blocked primary challengers. Sue was also the grass roots candidate not the establishment chairman.
So you respect her because she followed one rule which as far as I know every GOP chairman has followed.
Will you at least admit the comparison of McCain to Jesus is ridiculous?
It’s a silly comparison. Everybody knows Jesus had a beard.
Now we know from the Obamageddon video on another link that in fact, B. Hussein Obama is Jesus Christ…or at least will be by 2015.
See John, Sue Everhart was wrong to compare John McCain to B. Hussein Obama!
Please put any kind of context that you want around the words ““John McCain is kind of like Jesus Christ on the cross” to turn it into “John McCain isn’t really like Jesus Christ on the cross.”
Please. I want to see this.
Why aren’t you a McCain fan? He’s voted with the republican majority over 87% of the time.
