The Coming Collapse of the Middle Class
This is a Jefferson memorial lecture from Harvard consumer law professor Elizabeth Warren , and author of “The Two Income Trap”, in a (longish) lecture that strips away the BS and explains what middle-class Americans have and continue to face. The discussion centers on wages, savings, debt, spending, and the injection of women into the work force, all since the ’70’s. This is not pretty. Fastinating information on where family incomes go and the risks they face, compared to the 1970’s.

Analysis: Good economic news something of a mirage
Elizabeth Warren was also interviewed in the documentary Maxed Out.
We like to think of debt as wealth.
A captain on a fishing boat once told me that: “you’re only worth what you owe”. I was a young deckhand at the time, but I’ve always remembered him saying that. And now when I think about it, I think: “what an idiot”. Otherwise, he was a pretty good guy.
