Unbelievable: GOP governors sniping at Palin over press conference

Is Palin hurting the GOP?

HOTAIR-To my fellow bloggers: The next time you get an e-mail from someone saying it’s time to organize a conservative netroots, bear in mind that it’s these morons, by and large, whom that person wants you to support. The same people who couldn’t muster a judgment on the bailout independent of Nancy Pelosi being a big meanie, the same people who can’t organize a press conference without having it descend into backbiting and recriminations.

Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors’ unity — but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.

The GOP governors spoke to CNN on condition of anonymity.

One called it awkward: “I’m sure you could see it on some of our faces.”

Another Republican governor eyeing a presidential run in 2012 told CNN the event was “odd” and “weird,” and said it “unfortunately sent a message that she was the de facto leader of the party.”

This isn’t about Palin, it’s about basic competence on messaging. The McCain camp couldn’t manage it and now the governors can’t either. Who’s left?

    FYI

GOP governors unhappy with Palin press conference

MIAMI (CNN) — Some Republican governors tell CNN they were not particularly happy with the way the Republican Governors Association press conference was executed Thursday, saying that they agreed to go as a show of GOP governors’ unity — but they ended up feeling like silent Palin supporters, since it was clearly a press conference called for her.

Well, its just got a negative spin in OZ, from the point of view of Palin’s competence.

  3. Bill says:

We’ve been through some of these problems in the Paul camp, for example the inherent conflict between “organizing” and “netroots”. The organizers are always there no matter what you do. Of course we all need some type of “organization” when you merge with politics. As far as “organizers” the ones who weather the storm in the Paul camp are usually the least “controlling”.

  4. Bill says:

Unless I’m mistaken I don’t think the Republican Governors voted for the bailout. And although Palin was popular on the ticket, just take a look at the other 3 candidates. And having problems with the press conference doesn’t mean you would have a problem with Sarah Palin, but some would still ask, if she’s being “pushed” then who’s doing the pushing? This could be classic “top down vs. bottom up”. And do Republicans need another “coronation”? She’s about to get slimed. Because the REAL conservative netroots despises any type of dumbed down-taken-for granted-popularity contest.

  5. Bill says:

The other Governors should have gotten some face time.

If GOP governors held a press conference w/o Palin, would anybody know they held a press conference?

Why is it every single time criticism from within the GOP is leveled against Palin it is done anonymously (and most times turns out to be a farce as happened with Carl Cameron at Fox)?

Palin is the only bright spot for the GOP right now. The media is going to do its best to knock her off. The GOP would be wise to take advantage of her 91% popularity instead of trying to take her down.

  7. JohnKonop says:

    Bart

    91% popularity?

  8. bb says:

my bad, it was only 89% — “Rasmussen reports in a new poll that eighty-nine percent (89%) of Republicans give Sarah Palin a favorable reviews along with 33% of Democrats and 59% of voters not affiliated with either major party.”

But I did hear something on one of the cable stations yesterday reporting her 91% rating among Republicans.

Do you think anybody would even know about the RGA meeting in Miami were it not for Palin’s attendance? I mean, who in their right mind wants to hear from dummies like Sonny Perdue who was just named as Recruitment Chairman for the RGA…are you f’n kidding me…let the last dem governor of GA recruit conservatives…now that’s funny.

I’m sure that any day now Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright will launch an all out attack on America.

This should give the GOP something to rally around… again.

  10. JohnKonop says:

    Bart

Do you have a link on that poll?

  11. JohnKonop says:

Bill Ayers and Jeremiah Wright are more likely to attack a Pizza buffet line!

  12. bb says:

It was a news story that came up from a Google.

  13. Aubrey says:

Wright does have a book about to be released and the details of it are hush-hush.

  14. bb says:

What’s the title, “Kill all whitey’s, let God sort ‘em out”?

  15. captain_menace says:

“and the details of it are hush-hush.”

    I can’t wait, the anticipation is excruciating…

  16. Aubrey says:

Whatever is between the pages, I bet it’s gonna sell plenty.

  17. captain_menace says:

“I bet it’s gonna sell plenty.”

I’d bet money that it bombs. In this economy, crap books like Wright’s are going to take a bruising.

  18. Aubrey says:

He’ll make a killing just from the sales to the talking heads.
