VoteVets.org Ad on Rush Limbaugh

TOUGH AD! Will this hurt Rush?

  1. I’m pretty sure that his audience that remained after the oxycontin episode are going to be with him no matter what the guy says.

I like the ad though. His ability to affect public opinion has waned significantly in the last couple years. The 2006 election result in Missouri is a perfect example of this.

  2. Aubrey says:

The video is tired and toothless. If you want, call up the 82nd Airborne and I’ll bet that you can find a thousand soldiers who support Rush for every soldier named in this video.

  3. Aubrey – that’s some kind of calculus you’re smokin’!

    1000:1?

    You know that’s bulls*it.

Aubrey is about 1000% accurate. After the “phony soldier” tripe was exposed as just that, I talked to some friends of mine still on active duty.

I asked them SPECIFICALLY about this subject and they not only told me military personnel support Rush to the “Nth” degree, they’d like him to expose other frauds posing as soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines.

I worked for a bird colonel (now a 2-star) while on active duty, and I put the same question to him. He said (I’m paraphrasing here) “If more media types – on either side of the war issue – really supported our efforts, they’d do everything in their power to “out” these people and plaster their names and pictures all over TV. We’ve got thousands of brave men and women in every corner of the world doing jobs some people can’t even imagine doing and doing them with professionalism and dedication. Anyone who calls him or herself American and does something to make that honorable service less than what it is, is deserving of nothing leass than exposure as a fraud.”

For obvious reasons, he wouldn’t say directly that he supported Rush, but he did say it was nice to hear the truth being broadcast over the airwaves. He also reminded me that Rush’s show is broadcast daily on the Armed Forces Network and he listens to AFN every day.

You’re mistaken on this one Al. Well, maybe 1000:1 IS a bit high. It’s more likely 995:1, but I’ll take that.
