What will happen to illegal immigrants?
What will happen to illegal immigrants and their kids (if they are U.S. citizens) now that jobs are drying up? This looks like a welfare nightmare with no money to pay for it! Why would they go home when the job problem is worse in their country? This is what happens when trade is based on a race to the bottom for wages to workers?
MSN-The most desperate men park themselves on corners well before dawn, hoping for first dibs on jobs.
Most days, no one gets dibs — no one gets jobs.
Foreclosures are at record highs, home sales are at record lows and skittish consumers are cutting back on spending, all of which means contractors, construction crews and carpenters are no longer hiring. Neither are landscapers, cleaning services or homeowners.

This is sad indeed, and while I want the illegals out of here, my rage is reserved for business and government officials who brought them here in the first place.
Now watch crime continue to increase in this sector.
I think you are right Hugh but, ever since we really began the “war on Poverty” and created a welfare society, crime has risen.
Take a look at the charts on this topic on my forum that deals with trends including incarceration.
A picture is worth a thousand words?
The nation is in such deep trouble that only a collapse will wake the people up and start the reforms we need.
Jan Paul in his post #2 states:
“The nation is in such deep trouble that only a collapse will wake the people up and start the reforms we need.”
Yes, Jan, I agree with you. And my knowledgeable friends feel the same way. Perhaps the sooner we collapse the better so we start the recovery from a less dire place.
And thanks for the link to your charts. A picture, indeed, is worth a thousand words.
How is this scenario any different than what you guys were calling for by rejecting comprehensive immigration reform and cracking down on employers?
One is legal and one isn’t. That is the main difference. It is like the current economic crisis. There is no “good solution.”
Illegal immigration, when ended will cause all kinds of problems most calling for an end to it, don’t consider. However, the fact they aren’t aware of the problems shouldn’t change the fact that continuing is going to cause harm too. Either we enforce the laws and suffer the consequences of doing so, or we continue our slide into 3rd world status.
My only fault with those who call for an end to this illegal immigration and returning to a nation of laws, is that they aren’t prepared for the transition that will cause a lot of misery. Worse yet, they will call for the government to bail them out of their misery and say, we didn’t know it would be this bad.
That is like those calling for a stimulus package now to avoid a recession. They know it will make things even worse later on but, it is “now” they are only concerned with. “Fix it,” and “help me,” and “it is my right,” and “you have to do something.” Why?
Because they aren’t prepared for life on their own. They can’t deal with a life that doesn’t have a “nanny” looking out for them. They are weak people and as a result, we now have a weak nation.
Well, the illegal immigrants have their lifestyle working for them.
They can squeeze 15 people into a two bedroom apartment without complaining at all.
This may be the situation many Americans find themselves in before too long. Take a look at how the immigrants are living now, you may learn a valuable life lesson.
Yup. I agree. That is the direction we are headed. Also, if we have a depression in a few years. look for “the kids” to be forced to let mom and dad live with them or vice versa if the parents have a debt free home.
Look for more of our most skilled young seek jobs in fast growing economies in other countries too. Many U.S. companies want college grads with 2nd language skills to work in operations in other countries. I have spoke to some who enjoy the counties they work in. Some have been “promoted” back to U.S. locations and speak highly of some of the places they worked.
Also look for further declines in our infrastructure as this plays out. All of it is ranked C, D, or F and that will probably be the best we can expect in the future and more likely worse grades will be coming as tax revenues drop further.
