Why Huckabee helps McCain and Wisconsin loss helps Hillary

Slate: With every McCain win, the Republican race has an excuse to butt in to cable news’ wall-to-wall coverage of the much-more-intriguing Democratic race. If Huckabee were to drop out, McCain’s victories would be completely empty—and completely unnewsworthy. McCain’s continued triumphs over Huckabee make him look like a winner, which fits into his own personality as a fighter and his campaign’s message that he can beat the Democrat in November and win the war on terror. (That Huckabee is always termed as the “insurgent candidate” is the cherry on top.)

Slate: Hillary does best when Democratic voters sense she’s about to get brutally knocked out of the race, as in New Hampshire. That prospect taps a well of residual sympathy for a woman who has devoted her life to politics, etc. But when Hillary is triumphant she seems arrogant and unbearable, and voters feel free to express those perceptions at the polls. It follows that Hillary will do better in the crucial states of Ohio and Texas if she loses in Wisconsin and has her back to the wall.

It sounded like she was begging for money last night. Her, “you heard I loaned my campaign some money” speech and then ask for more money sounds desperate. Instead of admiting Obama won last night she comes out looking tired, and begs for money?

She may come back but, right now, I believe she is really in the dumps and it is showing in how she is talking.

Maybe she needs to cry more.
